In the NL East... The Mets and Nats both have the pitching. Nats have Bryce Harper, while we all love to hate him, you can't argue with the man's talent. He will also be in a contract year... It will be hard to bet against him. I think the Mets/Nats slug it out and it comes down to injuries as to who takes first place. The other will have a solid shot at the wild card. The Braves, and Phillies and both in the middle of rebuild, and the Marlins aren't there yet, but a step closer. Marlins will be solidly in the middle of the pack. Braves look good in the 2019 and 2020 season though, watch out if they keep going.

Nat's have starting pitching, but no closer. I'll take Nats through 8 all day. One month til opening day and we don't have a freaking closer. Melancon went to SF. I like Blake Treinen of all the people we currently have. I have a feeling we will be picking up a closer before the deadline, which will cost us more than it would have just to sign Melancon. Got to save the dough for Bryce, if he doesn't go to NY he's going to cost us $400,000,000. Eek

I have no idea what to expect. I'm guessing 90+ wins and playoffs will be determined by if we acquire a closer or if one of our bullpen steps up and does well in the roll.

I'm in this group as well.

In fact, I had a baseball disappointment this morning, my friend is getting married near Boston (I've wanted to catch a game at Fenway for years) and I checked the Red Sox's schedule only to learn she picked a weekend they're on the road Frown

Dude, it's still Spring Training. ALL of the games are on the road....In Florida! Wink

I read that a few times. I think the wedding must be in April or later.
Wedding is in May. Given nhracecraft's wink I'm guessing he knew it was regular season too.

I really like college baseball. It's high quality baseball but more unpredictable than MLB. Watching Clemson vs So Car now, Clemson hit a HR to tie in top of the ninth has gone to extra innings.

I love baseball with all my heart, but I haven't watched a MLB game in years. They priced me out of being able to watch them long ago with the cable deals and a few years ago I gave up on the radio as well once they started attaching live read sponsorship to every action on the field. "Wilson scratches his balls, so remember Geico insurance!" Roll Eyes

They continue to mess with the game, now in an effort to make it faster, all without addressing where most of the problem comes from. By and large the only ones complaining the games are too long is the television media, the very thing that makes the game too long. Stop going to a commercial break every time anyone does anything and make the guys stay in the fucking batters box and the games would be 25% faster. Instead we do away with the intentional walk ("because the number of intentional walks is down to a new low" (well then how the fuck is that speeding up the game?))

Braves are coming up fast in the rear view mirror of the NL East. #1 ranked minor league system in baseball. I predict they will surprise more than a few this year.

Harper's an arrogant ass, doesn't leg out infield grounders, doesn't play at 100% every play. Nats fans will come to hate him with Scott Boras as his agent. Boras is a bowl full of ass cancer.

For some reason, whichever game, teams I watch, I always enjoy day games much better than night games.

Years ago, a co-worker and baseball fan, found out I pulled for the Tigers..

He said Detroit was one of those "cold weather baseball teams." Cool

I hear there is already a tentative deal in the works. Those tickets you got me were great, thanks again for that.

Can't wait. My Os will go as far as our starting pitching will take us. Can't have another year of 4 to 5 inning starters wearing out our bullpen.

I am losing my interest in the NFL like I lost my interest in MLB 25 years ago. I followed the Cubs during the playoffs but only in the newspaper. I haven't watched a baseball game on TV in many years.

Most sporting broadcasts are nothing more than nearly continuous commercials with a few minutes of the game added as a hook.
