Happens in broad daylight at 10am.

Actually most break-ins occur during the daylight hours, as most people are at work.

Might not be shoddy reporting. From Fox Houston's article:

To expand on Oddball's points, the 19 y.o. "homeowners" were actually 19 y.o. renters. How many 19 year olds in a trailer park have something both legal and worth 4 armed men's time to steal at 10 AM?

If they were shot at close range with a shotgun, more like turned inside out.

As long as we're speculating anyway …

Mistaken identity based on outdated info? In other words, the perps could have been after who they thought were the previous residents.

Ok roommate sees four men getting out of a car one with a hand gun. Roommate goes and hides in the bedroom didn’t have time to warn other roommate, but the other roommate comes out of his bedroom with a shotgun exchanges gun fire.

Is it just me that has a feeling that the equation is not adding up correctly or is it my ingrained LE background that questions every thing. Then again it could be the reporting.

When any news story doesn't add up, I always start by blaming reporting or the author. Its because in my almost 72 years of life, I've never, even once, known about a situation or story where it was reported correctly. Blame it on bias by the reporter, or just stupidity, they never get it right. Sure some aspects are correct, but most often some important detail is mis-reported to the extent it changes the entire story.

Could be an editing error, or just the lazy reporter. If someone tells me they have a duty to report correctly, I just assume they're idiots.
