I'm going about this all differently in my more seasoned years. We are "now" into purses. Well we always have been, but dancing around the edges, followed by years of reluctance to buy a really nice bag due to price, uncertainty, perfection, whatever. On a trip to NOLA mid-Feb Deniseair finally pulled the trigger on a purse she'd always lusted for. Nervously ecstatic is the term I'd use. True to form, a week later we're talking about why it doesn't work perfectly for all things but maybe returning it and getting Thing 2 will resolve that. With some certainty. Easy Peasy - I insist we keep Thing 1 and Thing 2 in order to better cover all the bases! We are now deep in purse-spend, but also in peaceful resolution. What's that sound? Harps, angels and fluttering unicorn wings. Moral of the story? I ordered those frackin' wrenchs hours ago. Without a second thought. You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02 | |||

Sure do. Not that I need to, she naturally tends towards frugal. Nor would I want to, she could use some nicer things. I only run the discretionary stuff by her as a courtesy. If I can articulate a specific and immediate need (not want) for something, I generally don't mention it. | |||

Same, and doubledoo. Needed these to get here a bit earlier..... Someone is back in town now, and will wonder about the heavy jangly box at the door. In pre-emptive defense to the crowd, this is the same woman who in late 1996 arrived home 8 hours early to a '96 Cobra on stands, in midst of strut/shock/spring change, walked by and asked what I was doing, I answered and her reply on the way in door was "huh, I'd have thought the originals would have lasted more than 1,000 miles. The two sets they have left are probably the best values. They started with 5 sets: two non-ratcheting, two ratcheting, and a fifth set of ratcheting wrenches that had a bunch of smaller sizes too. The two remaining ratcheting sets are nice because they cover the big sizes. You won't typically find ratcheting wrenches that large at a big box store. | |||

I would have bought the ratcheting wrenches myself but they aren’t reversible. I seriously dislike having to flip the wrench over to change direction and I’ve got some older ratcheting double box end wrenches that aren’t reversible where I thought I was going to have to cut one off to get it off a fastener in a tight space once. If I’m using a ratcheting wrench instead of a ratchet and socket, it’s probably due to limited access, so the lack of a direction lever is a bit of a deal killer for me. If these were like the gear wrench reversible wrenches that I h ave I’d have bought both the standard and metric sets because they are such a great value, when they include those larger wrenches. “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. My tools arrived today. I finally have a 1.5” wrench that can also serve as a blunt force weapon. I’ve often run into the need for a 1”+ wrench and just never had one. I should have got a set of sub-18mm wrenches. I have some already but could have really used the ratcheting ones. | |||
