I estimate the bison being pushed is about 3,000 pounds of mean muscle covered with hair, horns, and hooves. The alpha bison lifted the loser clear off the ground with that charge.

This is why you don't muck with the wildlife.

My nephew used to manage a few heards of fluffys up in Montana. I think he got tired of it.

One of the youtube comments on that clip: "Should be a law against idiots going into national parks."

If that were so, the parks would have about 60% fewer visitors.

Adult male bison top out at around 2,000 lbs. but your point still stands.

That pitbull video is awesome.

I will never understand people wanting to get within petting distance of bison. They generally look like drooling, snorting masses of pissed off assholery just itching to mess you up. Definitely not cuddly.

So you're saying there should be a law against idiots going into national parks!

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

Maybe we need some free-range hippos here, as well.

Perhaps a better solution, it least in YNP, is to remove the warning signs around the dangerous features (e.g., critters, geysers, hot springs) and allow ONLY stupid people to go in.

Years ago there was a guy about 20 miles north of here who raised bison. Nice size herd probably 50 or so. Huge fence with timbers into the ground with heavy gauge steel fencing about 8 feet high. He raised them for meat and sold to the local restaurants and out of his shop.

The fence ran right along side a 4 lane highway for about a half mile or so. Not a freeway but a well traveled highway going up to the Iron Range and beyond. Always something to see when you drove that way. Well once those critters got it in their head it was time to migrate and move on that fence was nothing. Right through it they went. They are dumb as a moose a car traveling at 60 miles a hour is no reason for them to move. I forgot how many had to be put down from injuries from getting hit and lots of totaled cars and human injuries as well. It was chaos up there for two days trying to get those critters corralled again.

That was the end of the great buffalo farm experiment.

So did that phukktard “sic” the pitbull on the bison, or did it just take off on its own?

If the former, the owner needs to be beat with a bag of Texas grapefruit within an inch of his remaining, pathetic life until he can’t move ANYTHING………PERMANENTLY! Mad

At least bison don't bite you in half at the waist - favoured attack zone back home in AHFreekaH.

I heard somebody whistle at the dog and try to call it back, so I'm guessing the dog just decided on its own to go for it. Of course the guy was still stupid for letting the dog out of the car off-leash under the circumstances. Fortunately it looked like the dog wasn't seriously hurt. Might have been a little sore the next morning though.

Bison are massive, magnificent animals that should be enjoyed from afar or…….conversely on a plate as they are also very very yummy critters and may have horns and 3000 lbs on us but the tool using mammal puts you on the plate every time. Razz

Moose are very similar in both regards. You do not want to screw with a moose, you do want to eat moose. Smile
