Step by step walk the thousand mile road |
In June 1979 I was camped at Fishing Bridge Campground in YNP. It snowed the night before, about 6" worth. Well I and my traveling partner woke to this. He was over at the picnic table while I was hunting up a coffee pot, when he starts yelling "GET YOUR CAMERA!!" about three times really fast. I step out of the tent and a full grown bull buffalo casually wanders by about six feet away. The really wild thing, neither of us heard it. It passed by us, a six foot tall wall of muscle, so quietly I recall hearing the snow falling on the tent behind me.
