Another vote for a Lexus.

Or Acura.

Personally I would buy a couple year old AWD Charger from CarMax and get their warranty. Covers everything but wear items and can be fixed at ANY ASE certified mechanic of your choosing.
If we had not gotten an SUV we likely would have gotten the Charger. I was very impressed with the RT AWD.

It is a much more comfortable car than the 3 series or the IS.
We test drove the IS as my wife wanted one. It was awful I am not sure it is even deserving of the Scion badge.
This observation does not include the ISF model.

Obviously, can't speak for Jallen, but the IS is a compact sports sedan. It's small/cramped, especially since Lexus has been designing their car interiors to feel more and more like cockpits. Short wheel base, stiff suspension will make for pretty bump rides.

The LS or GS would be better "touring" cars.

Another vote for Lexus, we checked out everything under the sun and Lexus easily won for us. Our local Lexus dealership offers free car washes as well.

I currently have a 2015 335i Sport with all the M Sport goodies, and a 2014 Challenger Rallye Redline (suspension updgrade), and a 2014 Acura MDX, and have had lots of service loaners from both BMW and Acura last 3 years.

I have friends with the Lexus ES or GS.

To me, I would do a new/like new Acura TLX (not 2015, but anytbing after), a great car at a good value. I would avoid a used 5 series. The new 5 is much better than the outgoing model. Also, the maintenance gets insane on a used Bimmer, like 400 for a tire, 200 for an oil change, etc., so I would get the extended service contract.

Or just get one of the larger Lexus, a neighbor got a new GS 350 F Sport that was impressive. Some expense to maintain, but at least reliable.

Yes. It is optional and cost is based on vehicle, mileage, and duration.

I was just looking at a 2014 Sienna for 5 years 150k mileage coverage was $1500. Which is a good price. Includes all electronics and computers. For the Sienna also would have covered all the automatic door and liftgate componenets.

They used to be a flat rate until folks were figuring it out and buying porsches and high end German vehicles as well as Range Rovers and never have to worry about repairs.
It is now price based on vehicles.

Shawn, I'm in the same situation and just started looking for a CPO. Full warranty and let the first owner take the big hit on depreciation. The V6 Acura TL and the Maxima take a huge hit in the beginning. So do the German cars but I don't feel like dealing with a service department even though the repairs are covered. Late model Camry and Accords are almost as expensive as new.

I'm on my second LS430. First one was an '03 I had for a year before getting rear ended with my 15 year old driving. Totaled the car, but loved it so much I bought an '04.
They both have been reliable, comfortable, and affordable.
The '04 was under $8,000 with a 130k on the odometer. 8 hour trips with four adults comfortable and easy.

Best of luck~

If you pick a used BMW, have deep pocket for repairs if you keep it long.

I think Shawn said reliability is an important factor. Wink

None of the ones that you mentioned, but I just got a pre-owned Ford Edge and it is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. (other than the Citroen DS-21).

Since when can you buy "high end" for $30k?

Both my vehicles cost well over $30k and neither are "high end".

That said, definitely a Lexus for reliability and ease of maintenance. The European cars are expensive to maintain.

I bought an '07 is250 for my wife brand new and it has been a dream to own. Maintenance costs have been next to nothing and we both enjoy driving it. It is her daily driver with our 4 yr old daughter in tow, so I trust it safety wise as well.

I have driven it on about 5-6 hour drives a few times for work and it is a bit cramped after a while, but I am used to driving a Yukon and an Escalade. I am 6'3" 265lbs and leg room is not an issue at all.

I realize I am going against the grain here a little, but it has been a great car to own.

I did just have it serviced recently for the 110k mile service and got a '17 es350 as a loaner. I am almost positive that will be our next vehicle.

If you are even considering an ES 350, take a look at a CPO Toyota Avalon. About all it lacks of being a Lexus GS350 is rear wheel drive. We own a GS and the in laws have an Avalon, extended seat time in both is comfortable.

Of those mentioned. Lexus without a doubt

I had a 2010 rx350 its cost was essentially routine maintenance. I traded it for a tundra at 85,000 trouble free miles

How many older BMW's you see on the road past the 3 yr comprehensive free maintenance? My sons mother has a 328 convertible she bought used from the dealer. She drives a loaner more than her own car

LOL. I think you're confusing German guns with German cars.
