Music gets me quite a bit actually
Some of this may sound silly but here goes:
“Have I told you lately that I love you” Rod Stewart - my wedding song

Jeff healey “ angel eyes” really hits me hard thinking of my wife as well

Either version of simple man - reminds me of my father

As an old soldier who served in the “Irish regiment” any solemn bagpipe tune

Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here reminds me of my Dad. Sometimes I turn it off when there's other people around because it would be weird if tears start to flow.

Maybe not choking me up but makes me really sad to think how many times this happened in history and makes me want to hug my wife and kiddos a little harder:

Love Vigilantes

By: New Order

Oh I've just come from the land of the sun
From a war that must be won
In the name of truth
With our soldiers so brave
Your freedom we will save
With our rifles and grenades
And some help from God

I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

You just can't believe
The joy I did receive
When I finally got my leave
And I was going home
Oh I flew through the sky
My convictions could not lie
For my country I would die
And I will see it soon

I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

Do do do do do
Do do do do do
Do do do do do

When I walked through the door
My wife she lay upon the floor
And with tears her eyes were sore
I did not know why
Then I looked into her hand
And then I saw the telegram
Said that I was a brave, brave man
But that I was dead

I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

Excellent song choice. Better feel with the music playing.

Odd but true. My dad and I must have watched top gun 800 times. He passed away in 2022. When Top Gun 2 came out i watched it 3 times in 3 days.

When Mav is blasting through the mach 9 on toward mach 10, the music softly plays building the drama, and Mav is just smoking along through the sky yeah that gets me everytime. Pops would have loved that.

Amazing Grace, every single time. It’s a song about me!

I’m partial to Judy Collins rendition.

Amazing Grace, especially the Il Divo rendition and the National Anthem, Chris Stapelton Superbowl LVII rendition.

Fill My World (video below) for a whole other reason. Myles Kennedy (lead singer in video) wrote it from the perspective of his dog when he watched his security camera footage of his dog at home alone during a strong thunderstorm.

Coming Up Close: ‘Til Tuesday. My late wife’s favorite song. Can’t believe it’s been 23 years.

Levon: Elton John. This song always made me think of my father. He passed last year.

“Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present Generation to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.”

Cats in the Cradle, Harry Chapin. It's basically my relationship with my father in song. I'm determined to do better with my son.

This song came out right around the time my father passed away way too young at 64. We had a ton of unresolved issues due to us being too much alike. I was on active duty in the Army and we were just starting to work through things. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be there at the end for him and bear huge guilt for that.

One thing I learned from that, I didn't let that distance exist with my sons.

We buried my father in 2009. He as USAF, retired after 27 years as CMSGT. After my fathers funeral I said to my brother, "The military sure knows how to bury someone". My brother(also retired AF) said "They have had a lot of practice".
