No doubt about it. In fact, you're probably a double-racist.

Le' Racist, because he never took French.

When I taught Algebra (I was a middle school teacher) I attended a math department meeting (mandatory) where we met to discuss the textbooks that were up for adoption (new math books) for the upcoming years. (Generally textbooks are giving a 5 year run then new books are adopted)

Every single Algebra book was a ten pound behemoth with color pictures of nothing pertaining to math. Pictures of wheelchair basketball....seriously!

When asked which textbook I favored I pulled out "The Classbook of Algebra" which I recall was printed in the 1950s. It weighed about a pound and had just a few diagrams. I had ordered 40 of them from Ebay and had been using them since I began teaching. One of the teachers who was a bit older than me said, "That was the book I had in high school!"

Amazingly the older teachers at the meeting loved "my" book. Despite all of the advantages of "my" book, the county representative shot it down as it "was not on the approved list for adoption."

I kept using it anyway. I called it a "supplemental text" then I kept all the "real" textbooks in my classroom on a bookshelf. They stayed unopened.

This whole concept is caused by not understanding cause and effect.
Once they act on that theory and the cure inevitably doesn't work, they say it's because we didn't go far enough, we need to do more. There are lot's of examples out there.
The whole poverty cycle and the attempts to cure are a great example. Then there are drug addiction problems like diseases related to needles. The answer, give them clean needles. Don't actually try to look at the larger problem as a whole to determine the best solution. Just apply Band Aid solutions to everything.

The claims devolve into this: "aggregate mathematics proficiency test scores of black students aren't as high as aggregate scores for white students, thus racism."

<<sarc on>>
But logic is racist too, so don't dare use logic to assess this claim.

Of course, racists used characters and punctuation too...how long before those can't be used to assess those sorts of claims, either?
<<sarc off>>

As a physics major, with LASER major, I can attest light is, indeed, racist.
In the visible spectrum, red does not get along with purple. Green kinda hangs out in the middle, but mix them all together?

GASP! WHITE light!

It's all relative.

That poor girl is not the only one who is confused. I don't understand it either.

You owed $2.90 and you gave her $5.10? That means that the change due to you was $3.80. Confused

You are both confusing me. If he owed $2.90, change from a $5 bill would be $2.10 By giving her $5.10, he would get $2.20 back. LOL
I'm sorry guys. Typing too fast on a smart phone produces 'dumb' results many times. My original post should have read I handed her $5.90 (getting rid of the majority of the coins in my pocket) on a $2.90 tab to get $3 singles (and no coin) back. At any rate, the attempt completely confused her and I will stick to paying with my debit card from now on.

This is the crowning argument of the current craziness.

Because black people do worse at math (for all sorts of reasons, some of which do reflect disadvantages suffered by black students, such as poor/crappy schools, and some of which do not stem from that sort of thing), they just want to ignore math because they think it is, therefore, a tool of oppression. It is an offshoot of the equality-of-outcome goal they have. (As opposed to an equality-of-opportunity goal.) "If it doesn't turn out equal, it must be racism," is their belief. Further, they believe they have to discriminate now to compensate for past discrimination.

This doesn't make sense, so stop trying.

And it ignores that you will need to understand math to do most jobs, and higher math to do technical, engineering, or science jobs.

I assume that in ten years we will have woken up from this nonsense, but for now . . .

Math must’ve been racist for centuries, now we can get away from the inherent systemic racism of math. Imagine actually having to add and subtract that is just demeaning and it points to white privilege thinking that is an important thing to know how to do. I’m just waiting for breathing to be considered racist.

My first computers used Octal, not Hexadecimal. (Well, actually, the first computer I learned to program, IBM 650, worked with decimal arithmetic. The big SAGE computer used Octal.)

Proficiency in math is largely a function of WANTING to do well in it and WORKING to learn it. The dominant Black Culture doesn't support those goals.

Wait until they try to tell the IRS that taxes are racist because it requires math to complete a tax return.
