These coaches are just like big city police chiefs. Screw up your current organization and bail to find other gig. Which they always do. Roll Eyes

It's just the media trying to get clicks...folks love clucking over adultery and watching the drama of successful folks squirming. His big problem is that his team isn't very good and hasn't shown a lot of progress. A couple of wins and he's out of the dog house.

Good one! Some students need to get creative with that...

Winning cures or, at least paves-over any issues that are in the background. Without the W's, then the press will come searching for where the problems are.

As others have posted, Meyer is a duplicitous, opportunistic ass, who's always been rather cavalier about his actives and dismissive of those who he disagrees with. He's 'retired' several times due to health reasons but, has reversed his course for even larger profile jobs..and paychecks. This fits his MO of always having a wandering eye for the 'next best thing', I'm sure this applies to his personal relationship as well. Rather surprised his marriage has lasted this long however, if your spouse is willing to overlook a variety of moral shortcomings in exchange for a very comfortable and financially secure life, you can get away with things.

This sums up Urban Meyer totally. Somewhere down the road, he is resigning from the Jaguars due to a mystery health issue. Then when the next Brinks truck arrives, he is suddenly healthy and ready to go!

His latest attempt at being remorseful is on the level of a middle school boy:

Jaguars' Urban Meyer vows to make team flights, didn't think staying in Ohio was 'big deal'

And the experiment is finished.

Urban Meyer fired as Jaguars head coach

As a Jaguars homer I was hoping I was wrong in not wanting him as head coach in the first place but it looks like I wasn’t.
At least the owner didn’t drag this out for year after year as he has in the past with other head coaches who needed to go.

He would do poorly with kids who are there just to play the game and are not on scholarship or dreaming about the NFL. Maybe a pickup game coach in the inner city.

Because many people think that we have to police everyone's behavior and punish them for relatively minor infractions of what we think is good behavior.

He is a damn football coach. His personal life is between him and his family as long as he doesn't commit crimes.

But he is kind of an asshole, so he invites to some degree.

I do not get it either. I have heard all the media making a big deal about this. After reading here, I decided to look up the video. Some hot chick was grinding against him, big effing deal. Good for him, good for her. Now, his wife might feel differently. And his team might feel differently since he did not travel with them. But the media made it out like Urban Meyer was the next coming of Bill Cosby.

I do believe Meyer is done coaching though. No more pros, no more D1, and probably nothing else either. Both times he succeeded is college, Florida and Ohio State, he inherited good teams, rode them until the wheels started to fall and off and bailed. Now he has failed in the pros. And probably most importantly, his lack of respect for other coaches and players has come to light. I think that is the final nail in the coffin. Teams will see hiring him as too much of a gamble. I will be curious to see if one of the networks sees him as the same type of gamble and is willing to use him as an analyst.

Completely agree.
In today's Media-controlled woke-society this is to be expected.
However, IMO > IF he was winning - this wouldn't be an issue.

I finally clicked on this thread just to find out what an "Urban Meyer hub bub" could possibly be about.

I learn it's a hubbub (note: one word) about a pro "foot"ball coach of whom I'd honestly never heard before who had the temerity to be a man behaving "badly."

Now I know.

Losing is his crime. Entirely different dynamics coaching someone making as much or more than you do vs. a high school age kid that was recruited by you and chose to come play for you. Sometimes an asshole is the best man for the job, say the Presidency for example.
