Sounds more like a kazoo to me. There are other things that can be used to fake'em much better than that.
My brother had a product he got at a golf course pro shop back in the eighties called 'HAN-D-GAS'. It was a small, barrel shaped, flesh colored, sort of latex like thing that had a small hole in one end that you squeezed against the thumb part of the heal of your hand. He got extremely good at this. I brought one to work and the brokers in the bullpen at Shearson Lehman immediately asked me to procure some for them. One used it to convince some ladies in the elevator that a newborn baby had gas (purportedly by the look on the infants' face).
Never saw them again anywhere. By God they were great.
