Who looks at the yearbook and notices a baby photo of Hitler? Every yearbook I've looked at, I'm looking for pictures of my kids.

13 year old boys gonna 13 years old boy. I see great things for this young lad. The police investigating recall every book ? Over react much ?

How about the yearbook teacher and the proofreader who couldn’t tell a picture was from 140 years before any kid in middle school is born ? I say that adult is equally culpable

"the police were notified"...Is this the world we live in? A prank that maybe warrants some inhouse suspension but we need the police to put some top men on cracking whatever "crime" this might be.

"Paramus police were notified AND the information was shared with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office." What a waste of time! The school year ended last Thursday in Paramus. "It does not reflect who we are or what East Brook stands for". They're probably considering a 'Book Burning'.

The B&W picture should sort of stand out. The rest were taken post-2005.

I'd bet a fiver they didn't recognize the pic as Baby Adolf, they just realized it was some weird old assed picture. Google Image search did the rest.

I'm sure the fact that it was the only old-timey black and white photo on the pages of modern color baby photos helped it stand out...

Exactly. With basic technology, you don't have to rely on your own knowledge and recognition. You can just snap a photo and look up what it is using Googles Lens, an AI app, or similar.

Applies to a wide variety of identification uses, from random snakes, to pieces of confusing equipment, to unidentified plants, and yes... even unknown old baby photos of future murderous dictators.

At first I was impressed thinking someone was flipping through the yearbook and asked themselves, “Hey, what’s this picture of baby Hitler doing here?” Now I’m depressed thinking that smartphones and/or glasses will be allowed on Jeopardy at some point because there won’t be anyone left who knows anything.

I wonder what law/statute was violated, what crime was committed to warrant the above.

The article doesn't seem to make clear, was the picture associated with a particular student? Or was it just tossed into a batch of other baby pics? I see the "#48" label; I don't see a connection to a particular student.

On the scale of "prank success," I guess it's a winner, simply because it got a ton of attention and resources focused on it.

Right thing to do? Ehh, probably not.
But that's the nature of pranks, right?

It's a silly prank.

Likely a student submitted that image as their own, and faculty on the Yearbook committee missed it.

I think it's funny for the context which it occurred.

We (society)) got serious shit to be paying attention to, instead of things such as this.

I am guessing the number is associated with a list of names on a page.

(I worked on and was photographer for School Yearbook in 1971. And it was a fun shit show. All the stuff that was attempted to be "snuck in", was prolific, and a lot was very funny.)
