My GI canteen always had a plastic taste to the water. I upgraded to a Nalgene Oasis canteen. Tough SOB and no plastic taste. GI cup fits it great.

Yeah, I've got a Nalgene Oasis. The old plastic ones aren't bad as long as you put only water in them, never anything else. The Oasis, you cn put whatever you want in it and it won't absorb the taste.

And yeah, the Oasis is damn tough; surprisingly so.
