Brand New RainX Wipers Squeaking Like Crazy
Does anyone know the fix for this? Or maybe I just got a bad set of wipers?

I recently changed out the wipers on my Mazda from the traditional type that I had always bought before, which is the “frame” type to the “beam” type.

They seem to squeak and squeal like crazy though as if they are worn out, but they are brand new.

I did notice that they seem to hug the glass much more tightly than the old style wiper blade, could this be the issue?

Is there anything I can do about it?

I tried Rain-X once & they did not last. I have found Bosch work best for me.

Totally serious question: You did remember to slide the little plastic covers off the blades, right?

The best fix it to get PIAA silicone wipers. I get 3 or 4 years out of every set I’ve ever bought. If they get to where they start wiping a little streaky just wipe the blade down with an alcohol wipe and they’re good to go again and again.

Seconded. They are white plastic edge protectors for handling & shipping, not meant to be left on.

Last year I put RainX wipers on my F150, 50% of them have squoken and skipped since day 1. I moved the offender to the passenger side since I don’t look out that side as much, the squeekening and chattering noises are further away and almost less annoying, too. Lucky for me, I don’t drive it in the rain much.

I just replaced the RainX with Bosch because of the squeaking.

Given that they are Rain-X brand...do you think that maybe they want you to use the Rain-X liquid product on your windshield before mounting the new blades? Or, even better, with the RAN-Z washer fluid as well.

I have bought Rain-X in the past with mixed results, but with enough negative feelings I now go for other brands. Even the "entry-level" brands like Trico and Anco seem to last longer and wipe cleaner.

I will check, but I don’t recall there being edge protectors, the wipers came in a plastic package?

There are small plastic strips over the rubber squeegee part of the wipers which have to be removed.

Generally it's not the new blades however

1) Make sure the shipping protectors are off the blades, small clear or white slip on the ends of each blade
2) clean the windshield with a good glass cleaner, it could have wax, residue, even rubber build up from the old blades
3) Are the Arms providing correct tension, too hard and it can squeak, to little it will judder

Pretty much echoing what's been said..

Obviously you got the female inserts. Nonstop chatter, you know how the females are.

Take them back and get the male inserts. Quiet, stoic, no complaining, just peace and quiet.

That'll fix'er right up. Guaranteed!

I have never personally had a Rain-X wiper squeak. They do start chattering after only about a year of use.
