A question that puzzles me about this and similar threads concerning a company’s social policies:

What do their policies have to do with the quality or price of their products? Many of the comments here are about how bad Starbuck’s coffee tastes, but the subject of the thread was their plan to deal with the flak they received from how they treated a couple of people who were using their facilities.

Can someone enlighten me? If their coffee was more popular (and that seems unlikely given the number of people who do pay big money to drink it), would that mean the way they treated the facilities users or how they’re reacting to the flak would be okay, then?
“Victoria’s Secret stopped selling NFA items because ‘They’re instruments of the devil,’ but I never went there anyway because their bras are too expensive.” Yay! How to stand up for Second Amendment rights. Roll Eyes

I’m so confused. Confused

“ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.”
— Immanuel Kant

My personal boycott of Starbuck’s has everything to do with not supporting leftists and nothing to do with the quality of the coffee. I don't think it's the greatest coffee, or the worst, I just won't go there because I disagree with the SJW agenda they seem to be pushing.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I'm looking forward to the new "woke" Starbucks. Now I have a place where I can go take a dump without having to buy anything. In the past, I would pop into a place, buy something I didn't really want and hit the head. Now, I can just drop in, drop one and leave. If Starbucks wants to shit on the 2nd Amendment and its supporters then I will make it a practice to shit on them (and still not buy anything).

Just wondering, are you referring to their open carry policy, or is there something else they have done which is anti 2A which I missed? (Honestly, I've not paid that close attention to them since I don't go there)

And if they complain, just claim some minority status and sue them. Wink

Regardless of political affiliation, we see it for what it is, a nothing burger...

Its just free media, tv, print, innerweb, blogs, everywhere, even here, it's on page 1...

Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

*shrug*

I regard them as being in the same vein as "I'd boycott the NFL, except I don't watch NFL football, anyway" kind of a thing.

I still find it hard to believe they're doing this, even as they're doing it

I actually think we may be seeing the very beginning of the end of Starbucks as we know it.

I was just talking to my wife last night, who is a big Starbucks fan, she loves to go there and get coffee and hang out with other moms to get out of the house and away from the craziness of having young children.

What happens when she and all the other PAYING customers go there to get coffee and pastries and sit and talk and all the tables are occupied by all kids of riff-raff and other people who are hanging out and not buying anything? They will turn around and leave!

I think their decision to allow anyone to come in and hang out and use the restrooms etc was a HUGE mistake they will pay for dearly and may lead to many locations shutting down.

Back circa 2002-2005, Starbucks was all the rage for the cops, we could go and get coffee and take a mid-shift coffee break, relax and just shoot the breeze for a minute. These days, the place has lost their buzz and it's just not that big a deal anymore. Maybe it's their political stances, maybe it's their shitty coffee that tastes burnt, who knows. I personally save a lot of money by not buying their overpriced product. Great thing about free market economies is that businesses can live or die based off their customer base.

Starbucks Anti-Bias Training “Missed the Mark Completely,” Say Two Philly Baristas

The gist of the article:

-Two local employees of color say Tuesday’s training served only to make them uncomfortable and increase racial tensions.

-Starbucks appears to be trying to shift the blame from this debacle with the two black guys ONTO THE POLICE and off themselves

-The training was given by white people and half of it was a "Black History" lesson

- Starbucks favorite new slogan is "Color Brave" AS IF it's somehow "brave" in the year 2018 to speak to someone outside your own race. Who are the freaking racists again?
