Nextdoor is a website where you can see posts about almost anything from people local to you. Recommendation requests for services like dentists, doctors, car mechanics, etc. are very common.

Yelp is another one, and even provides star ratings.

As far as the Accu-strut, by all means drop me an email.

^I did search the thread for "nextdoor" and turned up nothing. There's actually no space in the name. Smile

I had upper and lower implants finished in Nov 2022, one of the best gifts I've ever given myself. One of my best friends is a maxillofacial surgeon and he recommended an independent prosthodontist for the implants. One surgeon handled the extractions and installed the implants, 4 on the bottom 5 on the top. Did the top arch and then the bottom 3 months later.

I went with cubic zirconia teeth, advertised as 1.6x harder than diamonds. Mine are better than I imagined. It was a long process and expensive, about $70k but I'm thrilled with the results. My case was a bit unusual as it was an emergency due to two upper teeth breaking off below the gum line. Infection set in and covid restriction idiocracy was going strong. Added a few months to the process but the workmanship did not suffer. You really need to find a pro as this is science and art, many exacting measurements with little room for error. My doctor advertises as a restoration specialist prosthodontist and teaches classes at University of Kentucky.

I'd stay away from chains or the 1 day quick implant stores. Also composite are not as desirable as ceramic as they can absorb odors after the coating wears off. The ceramic remain slick and plaque does not readily adhere. I use a water pic to clean margin between teeth and gum and soft bristle toothbrush to brush and polish. When I went in for yearly exam last month Doc did not polish - said she could not do any better than I did.

If you can find a dental school reasonably close it is well worth the drive. Downside is time. Upside is top notch care for less than half the cost. Wife had full upper and molar bridges on both lowers. After 2 years she gives rave reviews to anyone that asks. Best money spent in a long time. All in ~20k.

I have 3 implants, soon to be 4. They are lower molars and all from failed root canals. I use a well regarded periodontic practice and have had no problems. The implants seem to be stronger than the natural teeth.

Kind of brings me back to my OP. How do I find this Pro?
It's ok. Thanks everyone. I'm in no severe pain now. I'll find somebody.

I EXPECT FLAMES.
I would investigate going to a top rated Dentist in Mexico if I needed a lot of work (lacking good dental insurance).
I follow several RV forums and many members rave about the Dental work done by top practices along our border.

Except for my aversion to ever boarding an airplane again, why go to Mexico? Cost is not a factor, I just want the best.
Comfort for the rest of my life.

Louisville is next door to Cincy, my doc has been at this a long time and having taught at UK she may know someone in your area. I'll ask if you want me to.

I stated that I read the Mexico recommendations from RV enthusiasts that travel to the southern border frequently for winter relief and vacations in Rocky Point or stays in the Yuma AZ. area.
Towns are built on the Mexican border that exist for just this type of medical needs.
I'm sure the record of success is not perfect nor is the record in the USA. I have never read a bad review of a Mexican clinic, not to say there are none.
Most report Dentists that are trained in the USA with staffs that all speak fluent English and clinics that are state of the art.
I have not been there or done that, just mentioning it as an idea.

Mexico is not known for dental tourism. Saving money on dental care is not generally in your best interest.

I don't Flame you. But for me to travel to Mexico for that type of procedure would be rather arduous for me.

I have had several done also. Mine were done by a Periodontist. She is easy on the eyes and did a damn good job. I had to have the bone grafts too. My insurance before I went on medicare paid I think 50%. BUT they wouldn't pay for the bone graft if it was done at the same time as the extraction. It had to be a separate operation. She said that was stupid so she did the implants anyway and gave me a cut on the pricing.

I looked at that avenue really close for my all on four implant. Mexico is about half the price and the quality of work seemed good talking to some people that had gone that route. I decided against it due to the fact that implants can take multiple visits and the distance from my home to Mexican dental centers was significant.

I have only had one implant and luckily my mom’s used to be an office manager at a dental office and knew a good oral surgeon. So I would say looking at who the oral surgeons are in your area and researching them for reviews.

Mine did the extraction and then we waited a certain number of months, then the titanium screw was put in, waited several more months, and then the tooth was put on. The waiting was for bone to grow in and also me to save enough money for the next step. Not quick or cheap.

I think there is someone in Minnesota that is involved in oral healthcare on this board. I can’t remember if he’s a dentist or orthodontist, but he would be someone I would listen to if he jumped into the convo.
