Good to know that while I live behind enemy lines, the level of support nationally from conservatives is strong and is smart enough to separate the wheat from the crap. Roll Eyes

And then the state will come up with some other tax scheme, like taxing your solar generating capacity. Roll Eyes

Absolutely they will, same for road taxes for EV's, if you eliminate ICE vehicles you still need roads, and those need to be maintained, new roads built.

Just because you change the source, doesn't eliminate the governments need for money.

Well, if they can tell you that you don't own the rainwater on your property, they can certainly tell you that you don't own the sun that hits your roof. Roll Eyes

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

The plan would break monthly bills in two parts: The fixed-income rate, plus a reduced usage charge based on consumption.
They are charging a monster rate (unless you're poor) for the privilege of having electricity but the article fails to mention the how much the consumption rate is per kwh.

PG&E and others claim that many will see their bills reduced, but admits many will see increases.

PG&E, Edison, and SDG&E have some of highest rates in the nation. They claim the $/kwh rate will drop on the consumption side, but when you add in the income-based fee, you're overall bill will likely increase.

I'm on PG&E gas. Will I have to pay or does this only apply to electricity customers?

What authority does the PUC have to access my tax records? Why wouldn't I switch my utility bill to my 23 year old daughter's name? I'd save a few bucks that way?

How does this not extend into other utilities? Soon followed by gasoline and cell phone usage?

A) Sacto will grant them access
B) She'd probably have to be on the deed.

Venture it's going to be a combo of property value and income.

Lots of super rich people have very low incomes, they don't have jobs per say with payroll checks, investments, earning, dividends etc.

So to be accurate they will need access to tax records and even that might not show big income, imagine that Musk, who is worth billions, (did he ever buy a house?) maybe has everything in Trusts, doesn't pay a bill, has no definable income so he gets tiered at the low level rate LOL

I live in Cali, behind enemy lines. This proposal is just another way to collect more money. The idea of having the rich pay more is the excuse, has nothing to do with making things more fair. I am sure the commies running this state lay awake at night thinking about ways they can bring more money in, but pass it off as something else.
