One step further.
Your vehicle uses are just about opposite ends of the spectrum.
Keep the Expedition equipped for the 98% usage and get a second purpose built vehicle for hobby usage.

You may have the worst case of the mod-bug of any person I've met, vehicles not withstanding.

No idea on the quality as compared to the OE or KYB, but Sachs appears to make shocks for the ExEL as well.
Rock auto @ just under $100/per.

Looks like they only carry the rears.
I’ll have to check other vendors.

I’d love to get a set of Bilsteins and move on but they do not make them or they would have been purchased months ago when I bought the truck.

The off-roading I am planning on doing the Expedition is perfectly capabale of doing even with stocknshocks.
My main point of new shocks is I already have a leaker so the rears need to be replaced and if I am going to do it may as well do it with something of quality, not OEM that only last 2 years.

As for the off road rig, just waiting for my buddy to decide to get a new vehicle. He has a 1999 4Runner that is impeccable, with 150k fully dealer maintained as his DD.
Will make a very nice off road rig for me and the boys to build.

Guilty as charged. No vehicle stays unmodified. Can’t help it. I just like working on vehicles changing things out making it better, doing things folks haven’t done.
Been doing it for 20 years since I got my 1st car and I likely always will.

Only vehicle to stay stock so far is my wife’s Highlander.
Nothing to really tinker with and I rarely drive it.
