Rivian EV’s spotted in the Wilds of DFW/I20
We were in the Lakewood area of Dallas and spotted a Rivian electric truck in a grocery store parking lot. Still had its paper tags. Not too bad styling wise.

Then heading East towards home on Interstate 20, we spotted two more trucks and the SUV model on an auto transport. The SUV was decked out with roof rack and ladder ala Land Rover, also looked pretty good.

Also in the weekend activities, we also drove past the ginormous Tesla factory outside of Austin.

I saw one on the road a few weeks back, though I can’t remember if it was here in Modesto or while we were down on a trip to Anaheim/Joshua Tree/Death Valley.

Saw on several weeks ago while driving through Bellevue, east of Seattle. Not a bad-looking rig.

I live in the town where they are made and see them on a regular basis. I saw one on a flatbed last week and the truck was marked "Rivian Delivery".

Saw one late last week here on the north side of Atlanta. Tacoma sized, seemed decent overall, it I agree on the headlights. Something between a Dyson fan and something out of Nintendo.

Briefly caught one in passing last week taking my daughter to school.
Slightly bigger than a Tacoma, smaller than an F150. Seems ideal size for most people's commuter truck.

Thought it looked great

One my customers has one, picked it up two months ago, I offered to buy lunch if he drove. Very nice interior, wide touch-screen, lots of storage, overall a bit larger than a Tacoma but, definitely not a full-size. Said he did a bunch of 'rock crawling' with it on his property using stock tires, said no issues. He's looking forward to taking it on a road trip down to AZ this Summer, they like heat. Only has a 300-mile range...will be interesting to see how future batteries evolve, I can see an EV 4WD in my future should things positively evolve. Front headlights are a bit goofy, not sure who copied whom Ford's Bronco or, Rivian

A few weeks ago I was talking to a guy at the gas station. He had a RAM TRX. I had never heard of one so I did some research. 700 HP supercharged. HOT DAMN! I saw a video the other day where they raced a Rivian and the TRX.

The Rivian blew the doors off the TRX. I was shocked.

I saw one on I-15 just north of Salt Lake a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a good looking truck. But, I think the range is low when compared to a Tesla.

Thinking that if I had to have a Rivian, it would be bright yellow.

It would make a great Pikachu.

I saw one yesterday. As the driver was getting out I took the opportunity to let him brag about the truck. He said he's getting around 300 miles on a charge but hasn't taken any really long trips. Dirt roads has been the extent of his off road traveling, with the truck performing well. He said it's very fast. They look like a nice alternative to other EV particularly if one wants more storage space. However, for overland expeditions, I'm not sure 300 miles will cut it. I am intrigued by the whole thing and it looks promising.

One thing Tesla has figured out over the others. Supercharging Network. Having the car auto navigate and stop you at charging points on the way for a road trip is king. Until the others really get there on some scale. They'll likely be local commuters / day trips only.

Or at least chargers that charge with any speed such as the V3 Tesla Super chargers.

They offered preorder people the ability to buy a bunch of stock at the IPO price. Went up enough over the first few days my brother cashed out and pretty much made enough to pay for his Rivian SUV. He’s since balanced the loss on a cost average. He is in the first batch of SUVs to get shipped, after the employee beta testers, expecting delivery in late June.

Rivian's #1 aerodynamicist and design development engineer will be coming around to look at my gun collection later this evening if you want to ask any questions. We've known him since he was a baby.....
