Unless a signature is required. It always is with firearms but the delivery guy will be holding the handheld device to capture a signature. I think the lesson is to not be so trusting of people. Like I tell my daughter and son-in-law, you do not live in Mayberry. If I am unsure and really feel the need to answer, I have a handgun with me in my right hand while I open the door with my left and only have half my body visible.

Indeed they do. But you buy knock-offs of them today online at places like Etsy for $15.

Not always. Only for firearms made after 1898. Icarus flew too close to the sun, but at least he flew.

This happened the other day. Amazon driver in a personal vehicle. My dog would not let them out of their car, so they tossed the box out the window and the dog decided to pose with it in their proof of delivery photo. And that's 50 feet from the door. He has a much bigger problem with them approaching the house and makes that problem well known.

The only time recently that a delivery driver rang the bell, we were already expecting the delivery. We also heard him coming, as his vehicle seemed to have no muffler. Usually we just find the package on the deck, covered in bird crap and snow. === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

Ok, if you want to get picky, only with firearms that the shipper requires a signature upon delivery and the driver decides to comply. I have had firearms shipped where there was no signature required and at times the driver signed for me and left it on the steps without even trying to get my signature.

I see the same thing, some of the Amazon drivers are driving their own vehicles. Is this decision made by routing software, or are these 1099 contractors trying to break into the Amazon employee system ? I suppose if a creepy looking fellow comes to my door with an amazon package without a big Amazon delivery van, that would be different. And never heard of an Amazon package needing a signature anyway. Lover of the US Constitution Wile E. Coyote School of DIY Disaster

Nope. Not trying to get picky. Just sharing information as not all who visit/read this are experts. Some (myself included) buy/collect antique guns, and while I prefer to have signature required for confirmation, it's not required. I suspect many of us have has guns delivered that require a signature but the carrier elected not to get it for whatever reason. Icarus flew too close to the sun, but at least he flew.

this, as a Dealer, I receive firearms a few times a week, so adult sig, some just sig, and some found in the mailbox or no sig at all, depends on who shipped it, re the drivers, UPS is using extras or temps onw, and they use personal vehicles, FedEx recently (sometime earlier in the year) has the ground folks now doing express as well, and they drive vans, box trucks, or whatever, not all marked FedEx, on a side now, one of my customers told me he was at home early, and some dude walks up to his front door with a pit bull of leash, tried the door knobs and fortunately it was locked, customer grabbed his gun and went to the garage door, and shocked the guy (who had put his dog up for whatever reason, and stopped when he saw my armed customer and left, police called, caught the guy that night , MO was to bring the dog to the door, and if open, let the dog in to take care of any mutt in the house so he could ransack the place and leave, dude was caught with the dog, meth, and some stolen goods in his car, got time https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

I've only been an FFL for about 10 months and I've gotten deliveries of guns that needed a signature and just got dropped off. Last week I got one that did get a signature, but had already been reported lost in shipping three weeks earlier and refunded to the buyer. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL, Class 2 SOT

A courier that just drops a signature required package without a signature is flirting with all sorts of disaster. Alcohol also requires a signature. Lots of people buy booze online or belong to the wine, bourbon, whiskey whatever of the month club. Huge pita because most people are at work during the day and no one is home to sign. After three tries the package gets sent back to the sender. You drop that package at the door and junior comes home from school and gets shitfaced on moms wine losing your job is just the tip of the iceberg of the shit you put yourself in. Imagine that with a gun. Edit to add: To drop off a signature required package means you have to forge a signature on the handheld delivery computer. It won't let you close out the delivery without a signature. Yeah all sorts of trap doors open when you do that. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

Disagree with that. That doesn't mean, let alone prove, anything, in and of itself. How many of us have such cameras? "The Almighty, He put some livin' things on this earth so a man can eat." - Festus Haggen, Gunsmoke

It happened a couple of years ago next door to me with a fake Amazon delivery. Could have been really bad but the woman fought them off and was able to get outside and call for help. Crazy times!

usps, ups and fedex all have no sig, sig, and adult sig usps , will generally deliver, and depending on yoru driver of the day, will have to sign ups, generally sticks to the rules unless you know your driver, and tip them during holidays, then they will call you and leave them w/o sig, fedex, may, or may not, they seem to need to scan a DL once in a while, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Agree it doesn't prove anything, but the cameras combined with the other details make me think that this wasn't just a random home invasion...and I hadn't even seen Sigmonkey's post yet when I wrote mine. I'm not saying every house with security cameras is a dope house, but just about every dope house I've been in has cameras. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

You would hope people running drug distribution businesses would be more security conscious. Running the hub out of your family home is insane. They appear to spend their days under the influence of the product. The guy that encountered the two felons in his yard didn't find it alarming at all that two people were delivering a small box.
