I don't recall the actual purchase. It was early on when they first started selling merchandise other than media (books and CD's). I don't buy books (use the library).

I am a charter member of Prime, though.

My first purchases were in 2010. John Lott and Ayn Rand books.

I don't use Amazon now if I can help it. I have bought items, like rubber boots, and then if I like them, I order another pair as a spare. But the price has increased by 30% in three weeks. Other stuff that I have bought from Amazon (without doing a search elsewhere) has suddenly shown up on Google pop up ads, so I suppose that Amazon is sharing my purchases with other vendors.

I really don't like Jeff Bezos, or his propaganda "newspaper".

Well this is an interesting thread. It never occurred to me to look this up until now.
Glad I did.

On June 12, 2001 I ordered a boxed set of CD's and three DVDs.

CDs:
The Carpenters - From the Top (Boxed Set) I really loved Karen's voice and music. It's a pity that she left us so early.

Movie DVDs:

The Great Escape - Just as the title says, great!

Bullitt - The best ever car chase in my opinion. I really wanted that Charger!

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid -

My wife and I have seen this movie several times in the theaters, maybe 5 times. Whenever it was shown on TV we would watch it again. After getting the DVD we have watched it many times. The last time I watched it was about a month ago.

So what's the attraction to this movie?

It was the last movie we saw together right before I was shipped off to Viet Nam in 1969. At the time I figured it could be our last. Obviously, it wasn't but that movie has always been special to us.

And, it was a really good movie as well.

My first Amazon order was on Feb. 1, 1999 for three books:

  • Midnight Dreary : The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe

  • A Twist of the Wrist : The Basics of High-Performance Motorcycle Riding

  • Sportbike Performance Handbook

It's nice that they keep complete, detailed records easily available to customers.

In 2009, I had two orders. The first one was for a Colibri pocket watch that I must have gotten for my son. The next year, I placed four orders and the following year, 15 orders. Last year, I placed 172 orders.
