An Eminem CD in July of 2005 Big Grin.

That started it all. I use Amazon religiously now (194 orders placed last year).

My first purchase was a CD on June 4, 2000: Phuture 2000 by Carl Cox.
My next ten purchases were mostly anime with some live action movies thrown in.

December, 2000. I purchased a host of Christmas gifts for friends and family. I have always been completely satisfied with amazon. I hope they never change - never become too big to care about their customers.

It says the first order was Jan 1999.

But before that, I remember standing (actually sitting) in line at the CA DMV, waiting to replace my lost drivers license, and reading the Amazon IPO prospectus. IIRC I read the whole thing before my number was called.

I must have been late to the party. First purchase was in 2010, a Kindle for my mothers BDay. Next purchase was in 2011. I made 14 purchases that year, everything from replacement screen cover for my blackberry to a replacement battery for my laptop.

You don't have to remember it. Your Amazon account contains your entire order history.

Takes about 90 seconds to find the answer to this question.

1995-1996 when it was only a bookstore. Back then Amazon would send a customer appreciation gift at Christmas.

The oldest order in my history on their current website is dated April 22, 1997 for a Linux book that cost $58. Eek
