Get my pies outta the oven! ![]() |
My two boys have older iPads they are allowed to use very sparingly as a reward and the one stopped working and the other has a bunch of cracks in the screen (our fault really for not using good thick bumper cases) and both really won't hold much of a charge anymore. I went on Amazon and found refurb iPad Pro's that looked good and a good price that should give them a couple good years and ordered two. They arrived promptly and I started getting them set up, the one charged up right away and was in pristine condition like barely used. The other had some scratches on the screen and the battery would not charge properly, was taking forever and the power adapter was getting hot. Went back on the Amazon app and put in for an exchange for that one and explained why, they instructed me to print a label for UPS to come and pick up the bad iPad. The very next day another pristine iPad Pro arrived before I had even packed up the bad one to send back! ![]() Say what you will about them but they have their shit together, other companies would not have done this and I'd be fighting with them on an exchange or refund and would not have anything shipped so quickly.

I concur. I asked for a refund once and promptly got it without having to return the item. I then realized that I was in error and was going to make use of the item. I sent them an email explaining my situation and that they could charge me for the item. They replied something like "Thanks for being honest. No charge. Enjoy." You got lucky! Multiple times, I've had Amazon lose an order they shipped (within their own logistics/delivery system!), and it's ALWAYS up to me to cancel that order/get a refund and place a new order for the same item that they lost! The best is when there has been a price increase (two such orders had a price increases of 20% and 35%!) and you have 'work the system' to get to someone that will fill the order at the previous price you paid on the original order. For the record, the order(s) in question are for items 'Sold and Shipped by Amazon.com'! It boggles the mind that they can't/won't automatically fix their fuck-ups all on their own! Mindbogglingly frustrating... ![]() ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! Amazon sucks. They’re uncomfortable are a parasite for the Postal service. (Retired postal service). Letter carriers aren’t supposed to have packages on the top of the delivery vehicle. But they do. And Amazon will pull the contract at anytime and then give it right back. Shitty company overall.

Amazon is excellent for finding hard to find items. Items that a hardware store would not have, etc. Say stainless steel shackles, etc. Some vendors you would never know about, unless they sold on Amazon. -c1steve

Yep, better than Apple themselves actually. I run 2 pair of AirPod pros (2nd gens). My main pair, I had an issue with them. Back in the day stuff like this, you do a case, either via chat or phone call, a sesh. Then they deliver a box to send them into repair. Not anymore. I did a chat session, reset (I had already done all the troubleshooting) them at this support clown’s request. After they made me go into an Apple Store with a Genius thing reservation only to have this lady say the same thing “These need to go into Apple Repair”. They fixed them but the lady didn’t tell me to remove the silicon tips prior and they shipped them back without them. I call Apple Support, I get transferred to 2nd level, then this lady says they have to call the store where I had the appointment. Then that guy tells me our bad, come pick up a new pair of tips. I said that will cost me more money and time then it would to just buy new ones. They are $10 for 2 pair in my size. I said ship them, he refused, I raised hell, and they finally buckled and mailed some new ones that I get tomorrow. Amazon would have taken care of this immediately without making me jump through all these hoops. Fucking things are under warranty until December too. What am I doing? I try not to use Amazon much, but, like you said, they really have this way of selling down to a "T". (Walmart is trying hard, but their system is still a joke compared to Amazon.) There is an Amazon hub about 15 miles from me and when I do order from them, I often get same day delivery. Plus, returns are a breeze. There is a Whole Foods near me (owned by Amazon) and I don't have to repack the return. Just walk into Whole Foods, a clerk takes the item, scans it, and I walk out. The refund is usually posted to my account by the time I get home. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

My first purchase was 'Unintended Consequences' back in 1998. To say I've been surprised by what they've done since would be an understatement. It all started with books at a time when Ebay was king. Almost thirty years later and they have a market cap of $2.3T! By the way fellas, they are currently trading at or near record low P/E. ![]()

You’re not kidding. My first orders from them were college textbooks in ‘99 (a hell of a lot cheaper than the campus bookstore!) when all they sold was books. I still have a few of the sheep magnets they used to pack with the orders. Today, they run hot and cold for me. I’m near enough to a couple of warehouses that I can get a crap ton of stuff same day, which is amazing, but it’s almost a regular occurrence that same or next day stuff gets inexplicably delayed - usually the stuff I buy because I’ve procrastinated and actually NEED it when it’s promised. That said, 99% of the time, a live chat with customer service takes care of whatever. I’ve only been left truly dissatisfied two or three times that I can recall. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Staring back from the abyss ![]() |
In my neck of the woods it's either drive 90 miles or use Amazon for many things. It is a near necessity. I just want them to bring back Prime 2 day shipping that went away with Covid. Or at least have the option of paying an additional charge for faster delivery. Nope, many items are a week+ out with no other option, even when distributed from Amazon. The system worked great until 2020. I'm not sure why that went away. As far as returns, Amazon has always had excellent customer service in my experience. One quick phone call, no questions asked, a new one (or refund) is on the way. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." In my area, Amazon has lost their shipping mojo. They absolutely will not get it to you on the promised date.. 2 day is generally 3 day. Doesn't really make sense because we have a large distribution center a few miles from the house. Walmart is killing them on shipping in my area.

Many years ago we had Two Day Prime. Now we’re lucky if we get most things in two weeks. Most orders don’t even ship for a week.

They've completely screwed up local delivery around here. Too many packages so they often sit at the USPS distribution center or local post office for days before being delivered. I live less than a mile from a county line and in that county Amazon delivers themselves. You see the blue vans everywhere. Our county; we're stuck with the post office.
Always had great luck talking to real (usually accented) people at Amazon. Plus, if they think you've been inconvenienced enough, they'll add $$$ to your gift card balance. Last time was $25. Harshest Dream, Reality

Wow, some of you guys see to have a lot of bad luck with them. Not the case with me, I get everything within 2 days 99% of the time and zero customer service issues. I had ordered some coffee that tasted like dirt and the seller said it was non returnable/non refundable but after explaining my situation to a customer service rep on chat, they issued me a credit right then and there.
