Striker in waiting |
My EDC knife as well. Convenient in that they're inexpensive enough I don't have to cry if something happens to one, but quality enough that they're a pleasure to carry and use. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Yeah, I like Kershaw and this knife is the right size for pocket carry. The clip would have to go though. I wonder if it can be safely removed? .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

That would be nice, I don't care for the clip. I'd be interested to learn how other guys use it.

Pretty sure you can just remove the two screws holding the clip on and run the screws back in. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Thank you Honestlou - I have carried the Leek’s smaller brother (Chive) for over five years and it is a GREAT knife. Had to order the Leek to put into my rotation. Anxious to get this one in hand…..

Clip is easily removed w/ T6 or T7 driver. The Leek comes pre-drilled w/ holes for tip-up or tip-down carry. A popular option for Leeks (and many other Kershaw models) are aftermarket clips that place the knife deeper into the pocket. E.g., there are many on ebay.

Thanks. The clip on my Rat II lost one of the three little screws affixing it to the scales, so it's dangling from the remaining two screws. I'd remove the clip, but don't have a screwdriver tip small enough.

That is a good price on a great knife. I have gifted several over the years. I have a leek1660 dated aug'06 and a chive1620 dated dec'06.

I am sure it is a great knife, BUT I gotta have a flipper because of the stinking arthritis. Got a customized ZT flipper a young doctor sold and my fav, a $25 made in China no-less flipper with D2 steel that I bought because I didn't take a knife to PA last year. And I have a BIIIIG Guardian OTF with about a 4" blade that opens pretty smoothly, too. Am I correct, that the Leek is a thumbstud opening knife? Bob

No, it’s a “flipper”- index finger pushes down on the “bump” on the blade.

There are now two less Leeks in their inventory. __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

I'll have it a few days. I hope it opens/closes with one hand, otherwise could be a deal breaker.

They are a great bargain and carry a sharp edge. I bought a couple, a couple Christmases ago for $26 on sale and for the times we are in today, the $39 is still a great deal to be had. I may have to order another, as I gave one away as a gift and my son is eyeballing the one I own now. I have to say I am glad they have a safety, as man are these things sharp. For one handed operation, these knives are perfect.

Finding that clip would make me carry a Leek. I have one, but it rides too high, so it remains at the desk. God bless America.

Looked closer at it and noticed that I had purchased one some 18 months ago. I remember it, vaguely, as a bit too small for me. Thanks for the info. bob

Any good eBay or other deep pocket clip advice for the Leek? ___________________________

They're on eBay, for sure, but check out Lynch Northwest before you go the eBay route. Lynch comes to me well-recommended by a trusted "gear-head." I just ordered two.... - - - - - - ETA: more direct link God bless America.

shipping was very fast! Ordered on 20th received yesterday. As to opening and closing with one hand, opening is of course very easy. Closing with one hand can be done but it's not that easy due to the liner lock. Take a bit of practice and care. At least for me.
