Sounds like you need a pressure bandage or ]Israeli battle dressing added to your first aid kit. Also, might want to take the opportunity and upgrade your first aid kit(s) to trauma kits that can handle puncture or slashing wounds.

Last month I bought a new, really sharp, really pointy auto. Spent 4 weeks bInd WiFi g my hands. I am now forbidden from possessing a knife who’ll in the living room.

I have a very good friend missing part of a thumb because he tried to catch a falling katana....alcohol may have been involved


The best part was, I am married to a doctor, who was on call at the time (and getting rare sleep), so we all piled into the bedroom with her and woke her up and she says, without rolling over

“If it’s a piece they can glue back on, go to the ER, if not, put pressure on it, have another drink, and don’t bother me again until the sun is up”

So, duct tape and gauze were applied, and we continued to celebrate the end of our first year in law school

If only I had read this thread a few weeks ago.

I dropped my Benchmade Bedlam and it managed to cut two of my fingers. It was really bleeding too. Anyway, at the hospital the doc asked me if I had been playing with a balisong. I said no, I know better. Uh huh. It took 4 stitches and I was on my way home. Of course all of this took about three hours and the one male nurse wrapped my finger too tight and I had to go out and find someone to loosen the bandage he put on my finger. The tip of my finger was purple.

It's not the first time I have cut myself, just the worst.

I did that once, like 20 years ago. Emptying the dishwasher, I dropped a sharp kitchen knife and like an idiot tried to catch it. Sliced my thumb open from the corner of the nail clear around to the under side. Normally I'd just clean and bandage it and let it heal. But this was like two days before I'm supposed to be going camping / fishing with a friend and his family. So I called him and said I might have to cancel out. He said BS and 20 minutes later he and another guy showed up, threw me into the car and dragged me into the urgent care center. Did I mention that I hate getting stitches? A shot of Lidocaine (that hurt worse than the sutures) and a couple stitches later I'm home again. Sore for a few days but better sewed up than just bandaged. It sliced through the nerve in the end of my thumb and to this day I don't have any feeling in the outside of the tip of my right thumb. I do have a nice crescent-shaped scar to show for it though.
