Yeah, with those detail, who fracking knows.

Military planes fly all over the country, on low levels and such. Percentage is higher that its a somewhat local aircraft; however back in the day if there was a cool low level around we would usually drop in and fly it, if we could get the thumbs up from ops for the extra gas / refueling it took.

Google around and see what you can find.

Had the same experience outside of Canaan Valley, WV this weekend. A couple F-16s were low and loud about 500 AGL, flying through the valleys as we were driving on the two-lane highway. Looked up and felt I could almost reach out and touch the air intake on the aircraft
I'd seen them before on previous trips; what I didn't know was they weren't just flying through the big, wide valley; they were descending to fly through the narrow valleys connected to it.
On the sectional for Elkins, WV the route is VR1754. Pretty neat.

F-117s are STILL flying. NOT the whole unit that was originally at TTR, then moved to Holloman AFB. If you'd like to see one flying in February of this year, watch this:

It was the XB-70, it's taken out for a spin every few years, just to juice the rumor mill.

Interesting, likely in some form of testing / tech dev capacity. Very cool.

My wife and I looked at pictures of the planes referenced by various posters this morning. She saw the first plane better than I did, as I was concentrating on the rocky road and I saw the shadow go by us. She said the first looked bigger, and appeared blacker. Pictures she looked, she said the F117 or B1b resembled what she saw. The second one, was banked I saw and appeared gray, and looking at pictures an F16 looked closely similar to what I saw. So we have it narrowed down to jet engine(s), wings, and fast and loud, as well as very low, well to us! Best we can do with 70+ y. o. eyes, mere glance overhead through a dirty, dust and bug smeared windshield, and maybe in our startled condition, maybe it was aliens, as brought by a previous poster. Guess I now know what LEO's go through interviewing witnesses, black, white, brown, white shirt, blue shirt, no shirt, tall, short, skinny, fat, long hair, short hair, etc. Roll Eyes
Thanks for everyone's thoughts! Two facts though, we were glad we were not on our horses, and Sound of Freedom!

F117 or B1b

Hmmm, your description is more F-117ish, however Ellsworth is mostly about B-1Bs. The mystery may never be fully solved.
