Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
Not in mine, either. I am forced to wonder what is in the water consumed in Washington, Oregon and Kalifornistan. After a couple generations, it must be in the genetic structure out there. Stupid does not begin to describe these morons. Or should I call them "moreoffs?" This is the same city government that allows "community organizations" to hand out free crack pipes (People's Harm Reduction Alliance. University District. A typical looney-tune liberal organization that derives meaning through the exploitation of others) and clean needles, thereby effectively subsidzing drug use while taxing sugared drinks. Ugh, the city of my birth is a complete nut house. Silent

Don’t forget they also want to set up heroin shooting galleries with public health nurses to “assist” the junkies... Fucking lunacy.... What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

I graduated from HS(in 1982) and have family that live there, they think this shit is "normal" and "expected", then ask me why I don't want to move back. If I bother trying to explain my real reasons I get a deer in the headlights look... I miss that area, but I just can't... __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/

I don't know how much is their stupidity vs how much is their dishonesty. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. I wonder, how much of the tax money will be eaten up by the bureaucrats before the left-overs get spent on the end purpose. And I wonder, how much of the tax money will be diverted to some other self-serving political purpose. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. Remember, the sugar tax is intended to reduce consumption. This is at odds to the claimed "15 million" per year tax revenue. Seattle has budgeted for money that supposedly is going to go away. “ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

Stop, just stop, you are being so negative. Remember, they can budget all they want because of 2 things: 1. they don't think it will work anyway, because nothing they have done in a dozen years has worked (non-exhaustive list of examples: the water front tunnel (big-time CF), the traffic revisions to enhance the tunnel, the Mercer mess (which may be worse than the traffic in Saigon), gun buy-backs, campaign for the homeless, $5,000,000 from a tax on guns which ended up costing more than they received, an unconstitutional and failed, income tax, forbidding guns in parks, every single traffic program they have promulgated, every.single.one. the bike program, the revised bike program, the revitalized revised bike program, the treatment plant that they couldn't get to stop spewing sewage into the Duwamish River for more than two months to name a few. Look, these are 2. Once they budget the money they will have to get it from somewhere because...fcuk, I don't know, just because. _______________________

Maybe similar dynamics, CA has fairly high gasoline tax, people have gone to more fuel efficient cars (incl hybrids and electric), CA isn't collecting what they projected, now they are considering a per mile driven gasoline tax. Yeah, they're looking at that here too. Some kind of a "pilot" program is either underway now or about to start. They're looking for volunteers to have their mileage tracked to see whether or not it would be a moneymaker. Personally I wouldn't mind something like that because it would - in theory at least - make the EV owners pay their share of the road maintenance cost. But I would ONLY support it on the condition that all of the state gas taxes are eliminated with no way to legislatively re-institute them in the future. Then again, there's also the issue of Big Brother tracking what I'm doing, not sure if that's a really problem or tin-foil hat stuff though. I'm not really concerned with BB knowing how many miles I drive, but I am concerned about him knowing WHERE I'm going (e.g., does more than N trips to the gun club per year make me a possible domestic terrorist?). Matter of principle more than anything else.

Is that even possible without hiring a car moving service? Will the Tesla's go far enough to find a recharging station? Or will they all break down, run out of electicies before reaching the free America they seek? If they hire a car-mover, will they hire one that uses fossil fuels? Can we start a moving service and just dump their beloved cars out in the wilds of Idaho or Kali? Unhappy ammo seeker

Won't happen. Big companies almost invariably are given huge breaks on taxes and sometimes utilities to set up shop in any given city. Then they spend years and $$$ buying all the local politicians. So once they get set up and operating, moving is a pretty expensive proposition.

Probably on a trip![]() |
I had a long layover in Seattle a few years ago. After going out the first night and dropping over $100 on booze I decided that maybe the better decision for the next few days would be to just grab a bottle of rum and have it in my hotel room. No problem, I find a Target or something downtown and grab a bottle of Captain Morgan. The price was 15.99 or 16.99 or somewhere around there. It was at the point where I figured a $20 bill would cover it. I get to the checkout. It was over $25. I’m all “WTF?” The cashier looks at me and says “You are not from here, are you?” “Nope, I’m from Texas” “Well, they punish you here for booze.” It was like a 40% tax BEFORE the sales tax. Beautiful place, but Fuck You Seattle. For the record, on a long layover in Cologne, Germany now. Went to the supermarket. Bottle of Captain Morgan is €12.99. No tax added. Research complete. Germany is less socialist than Seattle. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. Plato
