I discovered one slight benefit yesterday on my first post reopening visit to Mama’s Fish House. Self parking now instead of valet service. I don’t mind paying valets but I enjoy a nice long meals a lot more when I know my vehicle is locked and I have the keys, especially at places in areas that have a lot of thefts like Paia.

For some time now I've gone to sit-down restaurants in the area. I enter and leave wearing a mask (though that may not be required now at some of them), and also going through a line. In those restaurants the staff all wear masks, and the tables are following social distancing guidelines. No self-help items at any of them, except drink machines. (I miss the soft-serve ice cream at Dickie's.)

I'm still trying to figure this out. Even though we know that masks do little to nothing to stop a virus, the CDC says that one must be exposed for a period of 15 minutes within 6 feet.

What is wearing a mask supposed to do while walking through a restaurant?

It shows that you care. It shows how virtuous you are. Like wearing the AIDS ribbon. It does jack shit, but if you don't wear it, you'll end up black, blue, and bloody like Kramer at an AIDS walk.

I was in DFW back in July and was sitting in an unoccupied except for me boarding gate lounge, 20+ feet from any living soul and Covid Karen working the gate for AA felt it was her duty to try and enforce compliance with the mask policy.

Nobody in IAH bothered me.

Wonder if I'll get hassled in the airport there for not wearing a mask as those are fed-regulated...

I have yet to wear a mask at any airport while walking through the terminals. The only time I have to put it on is to board the aircraft or enter the sky club.

FLY UNITED!!! Big Grin Big Grin

I'm VERY tempted to show up to work today and not wear a mask except for when I have to board the plane. But I'm not sure I'm ready to push THAT button yet with my Chief Pilot, though. Smile Smile What I MIGHT do is just get a Dunkin' coffee and be drinking on that as I'm walking through the terminal. More than one way to skin that feline!! Big GrinBig Grin

Had lunch at MOD Pizza yesterday and it was the first time going into an eating establishment without the face panties and it felt GOOD!!

This is typical prep for my carry-on and pockets whenever I fly during this pandemic which is often. In this case I raided whatever was in the ship's pantry. No matter what, I'm always snacking on food or sipping on a beverage during the course of my travel. As I said, not once have I put a dirty cloth on my face while in an airport terminal (with the exceptions I noted above).

Governor Abbott’s rescinding the mask order doesn’t seem to have made any difference here in San Antonio. Every business I’ve been in still has their “mask required” sign at the door and compliance from their customers is universal from what I see.

I had a Universal employee chase me down yesterday because she didn’t like the way I rubbed the tiniest amount of mandatory hand sanitizer they give you before each ride on my hands. Really, they gave me just enough to sanitize about 1/4 of my hands. Pure theater.

Last time I checked, the Governor was higher up the food chain than anyone else in the State, so do what he says and ignore the others.

While I'd much rather not wear a mask, I wear one with the hope that it will end this mess sooner. I work in a medical facility and have seen over 100 of our staff get sick, some mild, some serious (icu), and even some have died. We've lost dozens of patients to COVID.

I don't really understand the hostility to wearing masks. I totally disagree with lockdowns but think masks are a prudent way to avoid lockdowns and allow us to live our lives still.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
