Bendable for the win! Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet. - Dave Barry "Never go through life saying 'I should have'..." - quote from the 9/11 Boatlift Story (thanks, sdy for posting it)

If it's not for a hinged tongue, it's probably to remove when backing up a hill. Mine has a thing like that and when I remove it, the trailer brakes won't activate - useful at times. ------------------ SBrooks

Trailer looks to have 4 wires, so electric brakes should be out of the equation.

I think it's just an extension that can be removed to close the garage door. Instead of hinging it so it can fold back, they just used a larger tube and made it removable. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
The pin is required on surge brakes, not electric, and it looks like it may have been removed on the tongue in the OP photo. Here's a new one. https://forum.gon.com/threads/...with-trailer.910412/ ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Surge brakes lock-out pin, old style. It keeps the actuator from engaging with the ball hitch.

I think it may be a mounting hole for a power winch. Someone saw that hole and decided to drop a pin it it. It is a good spot to store the pin for the drawbar in a receiver hitch. BTW, I made the mistake of leaving my drawbar in the hitch for too many years once and it cost me about 4 hours of beating on that drawbar with a 4 lbs. Engineers Hammer. I've stopped counting.

It's as simple as, A place to put your winch hook when the boat is not on the trailer. So it ain't flailing around as you drive down the road. Pull the hook down and see if it hooks right in there . Interesting. That looks like an incredibly small hinge point that, along with the pin, is carrying the load. I guess that's only about a 2,500-3,000# rig though, so probably not a huge issue? You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

I agree.....never seen a hinged trailer tongue quite like that.

No trailer brakes, so the trailer and boat are under 3K. The boat is under 1500 lbs.

Nice rig there Colorado! My much smaller Alumacraft is 39 years old and still tight and dry as a bone. Happy fishing.

It’s as big as the pin holding the hitch in the receiver. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

Well that explains why there’s no visible pivot point. Looking back at the first picture, I can now barely make out the split. That area looked like one piece the first time around. Nice boat.
