Our hearts are with you during this sad time.

Thank you for having the courage to be a loving, kind and responsible caregiver to your dogs.

17 years, that's a hell of a run. Sure doesn't make it any easier though. Someone wiser than me once said a dog is a small part of your life, but you're all of a dog's life. Hopefully you can find some small comfort knowing you made that life a good one.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

So sorry for your loss ORC, it is never easy to lose a loyal member of one’s family. No matter how difficult your day was, as soon as you open that door and are greeted by your companion, it always makes your problems of the day just disappear. Thoughts and prayers going up to help with your loss.

So sorry, I know how heartbreaking that is. Been there too many times. At least you were with her, and she knew she was loved.

I was sent a video today dealing with this situation. We've all been through it many times, and the last time was just as hard as the first.
