Will be taking my family to our first game in Fenway Park in late June / early July. Looking at the seat map, I am really not sure where to sit. Above the Green Monster is not available. Since we will be rooting for the visiting team (Cincinnati Reds) I think we want the 3rd base side. But where? The pricing doesn't seem to make much sense. I click on some tickets, which seem kinda far away, and I am shocked by the high price. And then click on others, and I am shocked that they are less. I am sure there is a reason, but not knowing the stadium, I have no idea why. What section offers the best bang for the buck?

Went to a couple games there the mid 90s, always out in the bleachers (poor). Most memorable was straight away center in the very corner, right next to the camera man who we BS'd with throughout the game. Smile

Never been to Fenway but my cousin has.

He said that it’s an old school stadium and has pillars down below that can obstruct the view of the field.

Maybe that’s why you have the fluctuations in prices.

Just spitballing here…

Don’t worry about missing out on the seats above Monster. It’s just a glorified bleacher.

I don’t think it matters where you sit in the Park as you will be surrounded by Sox fans. As an earlier poster said be aware of the pillars that can obstruct the view. My recommendation is to get tickets as close to the field you are willing to pay for. Try not to go all the way out to the foul poles.

The bleachers can be brutal that time of year if there are no clouds.

I also recommend the ballpark tour if you have time.

I saw Ripken Jr. play one of his last games at Fenway in ‘01. It was just a few weeks after the towers were lost. We sat close enough to the field that there were no obstructions from the pillars. We were about half way down the 1st base line. Decent seats, it was a lot of fun.
I think Fenway and Wrigley are the only stadiums left with obstructed view seating. I’ve read not to get seats deep in the right field grandstand as the seats are not angled towards the field. You can go online and see what a view looks like from any seat before you buy tickets.
It’s the oldest MLB stadium. Opening day was just a few days after getting news that the Titanic sank in 1912. Boston takes its sports seriously. It’s a very devoted fan base. Great old world feel there and tons of history. Have a great time!

Growing up on the NH seacoast, I went to many Red Sox games. (I saw Roger Clemens' first 20 strikeout game when I was 13.) I always preferred the 3rd base line a bit above the dugout. Great view. Enjoy your visit!

No comment about good seats; I never went enough to really know.

The last Sox game I went to, Roger Clemens started against the Yankees. Wade Boggs was still on the team too. Guessing this was around 1989 or so. Sox won.

We sat on lowest level, visitors side on the aisle close to home plate, good field of view. Know that the seats are narrow, built for Americans of 100 years ago. Stros won the game.

There is a bar in left field you can get in without game tickets to watch pre game warm ups. they close the overhead door during the game leaving only a few windows to see the field.

I wanted to see the monster so I sat near home plate. White Sox won the game! Woo Hoo.

I had a great time but...Wrigley Field is in the middle of dozens and dozens of bars and restaurants.

Check out this link:

You can see the view of the game from any seat in the park.

1st or 3rd base side 8 to 10 rows above dugout gives a good view.

Only been once (9/04) and this is what we did. Section 8 Row 8. Great seats.
