Disposable fly bags are perfect for this. They like my porch for some reason as well. Rescue is the brand I use. Dont put it near your door, just somewhere 50ft from it in the shade. you will have to change it once a month, but once the fly cycle is broken you will be fly free.

A lot of people make the mistake of putting them where the flies are, it has an odor and attracts flys so dont put it near the door.

Dont bother with the reusable ones cause they are cheaper. when a 1000 flys get in there it stinks and trust me when i saw you dont want to rinse that thing out. Easier throw away and just get another one.

Do you have a light there that you leave on overnight? If so, maybe reduce the time on so it's not such a buffet location.

Also, see if you have cobwebs accumulating there perhaps? Again, the hot-table for a buffet of meals for flies.

Good luck! Better than my experience opening front door to get a package and learning a bird was roosting in the goofy arrangement hanging there. As he flew inside the house. At about 10:30 at night when coming in late after a meeting. Oh joy.

I use Bifen, often sold as Talstar at tractor supply, I spray the whole vestibule and the entirety of my back patio (walls, ceiling, floor, dog house, furniture, etc) bc flies are there due to my dog’s food. Also remove her poo so they don’t get attracted to that. Occasionally, like last year, they got so bad I also used permethrin (also found at tractor supply) in an 1-2 punch, and it’s made for flies and being sprayed in barns.

I don’t know about it affecting your bird though. The permethrin has a heavy odor, where the Bifen doesn’t. Neither of them stain paint, and as I said, I soak the areas. Bifen lasts longer but I apply it every 3 months, if it rains and the areas get wet I reapply.

I would get some lavender plants and put them in a hanging basket at the door entrance way.

.........................
Yes, lavender plants can help deter flies due to their strong scent and the presence of certain oils that flies find unpleasant. The chemical compound linalool, found in lavender, is known to repel flies.
Here's why lavender is effective in repelling flies:

Aromatic Repellency:
Lavender's strong fragrance, while pleasant to humans, is off-putting to flies and other insects.

Linalool:
This chemical, extracted from lavender, is a natural fly repellent used in many commercial products.
Natural Choice:
Lavender is a natural and safe way to deter flies, especially when compared to chemical repellents.

While lavender can be an effective deterrent, it's important to note that it may not completely eliminate flies, especially in situations with high fly populations or if there are multiple entry points into the area.

Talstar and permethrin for me. First year doing this and it has significantly cut down on the flies that come in.

Flypaper works but it is a bitch to get out of your hair when you accidentally walk into it. When guests come over you need to explain the barn motif.

Wife an I (read: I) use the disposable type found at Lowes and Depot.

The method I use, fill to the prescribe with water. Re-add water every couple weeks and allow dead flies to keep the cycle going.

Also, I spread out food grade diatomaceous earth (can be picked up for a fair price at a Tractor Supply Company type store) under brush and other places flies like to congregate - to include the dog poop bucket and under fruit trees.
