I like the Shark vacuums. I have one of the ION models and it was half the price of the dysons.

Ordered a V8 last night from Costco online. They were having an $85 off and free shipping special, so it was $300 + tax. (The special expired last night, sorry). Half the price of the V11. We would be using it mostly on our laminate and tile floors and have no animals (other than the two guys). I’m curious to see how well we like it.

Another endorsement for The Dyson. I have used it for two cats and a dog and it has been great. I initially balked at the price but found it on sale at Best Buy and would buy it again. My battery is still running great after about 3 years. I can pretty much do the whole house before it needs recharged.

We have the Dyson with the fuzzy roller for smooth floors. Great for that and the motorized handheld brush for quick cleanups and furniture. I don’t see runtime being long enough to do much carpet though. 10-15 minutes on low. Max goes really fast.

Got a 2nd V7 just after Thanksgiving for $180.
Wife uses it at least daily & wore the previous one out in ~2yrs. I'll probably swap batteries & use in basement.

This is the one we have for mostly hardwoods and some carpet. We have dogs that shed a lot so its in use every other day.

Works like a charm.

Woot is where I look for these things, I've bought two of the Stick vac's and two roombas, one Roomba was very noisy, they took it back and exchanged it. Other than that the units are basically as new out of the box.

Woot Dyson V10 $269

They won't last long, but they do come up monthly...

I too purchased a refurb unit from Woot.com.

I love it. I use it to clean the lint off of the dryer as I converted our dryer to an inside exhaust. It is great for getting the cobwebs and dust bunnies, or when you don't want to haul out the full sized vacuum.

My wife wasn't happy when I bought it, but now even she loves it.

I did hang the wall mount in the mud room as it makes a great storage place for the vacuum and two attachments.

Well, Costco is having a sale on the V11. All sold out in the morning - at least 3 local stores. Still available online - may order one.

I found one. Got it. Seems to work pretty well. Container fills very quickly (one small bedroom - wall-wall). It's pretty quiet.

Hair still gets tangles but sounds like it's easily removable - doesn't need to be cut out like the older Dyson.

Sounds like a keeper for now. Need to find a place to store this thing near an outlet....

Sounds like your previous vacuum may not have been doing a very good job on the bedroom carpet. After a few times over with the newer, better vacuum, I suspect it won't fill up as quickly going forward.

Even with having a large dog who sheds a bit, I can do my entire 1800 square foot house on about 2-3 containers worth. But then I vacuum at least once per week, ~70% of the house is hard flooring, and it's a new home without years of buildup lurking in the carpets that earlier, weaker vacuums were missing.

Prior (existing - still using) vacuum is also a Dyson (purchased about 10+ years ago? Can't remember exactly). It cleaned pretty well. But I think we just don't vacuum as much as we should.

I think the carpet itself sheds..... I think the vacuums basically give the carpet a haircut each time we use it.

But with this new toy, I'll vacuum the TV area more often - maybe once a day - for a while and see what happens.

ETA: wow, this thing gets dirty by itself. All kinds of dust and debris gets stuck around the ball area near the floor. After vacuuming, I have to dump the container, pullout the hair from the brush (at least no longer need to cut out the hair) and wipe the area around the ball. Otherwise, seems to work well.
