Exactly what I thought, what referendum?

Twitchy.com: calls for repealing 19th Amendment

I don't agree with mucking around with the Constitution because an election didn't go our way. It's too much like the people calling for altering or abolishing the Electoral College. Nevertheless, college girls don't always make the best decisions.

The explanation isn’t complicated. It was turnout. In New York City, more than 2 million people voted— double the last mayoral election four years ago and approaching presidential levels. The inexperienced muslim socialist got more than 1 million votes for mayor, a benchmark not met since 1969.

But it's also true that more than a million people didn't vote for him and by the time they are all counted, he will probably be just barely over 50 percent. It will be fun to watch him struggle to deliver on his promises over the next few years, and I for one will be rooting for him to fail. Unfortunately, the type of people who vote for politicians like him never learn from their mistakes.

There’s 8.4 million people in New York City.
Let’s knock off 2.1 million people who aren’t eligible to vote.
That’s 6.3 million people who are eligible to vote.

More than 2 million voted?
“Double than last election”?

Now do that math.
That’s A LOT of fuckin apathy.

Agree. So the dems rolled in states there was almost no way they would lose in. Doesn’t mean a thing in the big picture. These dems ( Mamdani in particular) might make some horrendous decisions and police’s that might just wake a lot of people up. As a former NY state resident NY is essentially lost. There is simply no way to reverse it at this point.

NY and NJ are facing massive debts from spending. Now they have leaders that are promising a entire nerw batch of "free stuff:. what happens when they can't deliver?

NY city is facing a mass exodus of the top taxpayers and companies. That clown has no clue what he is doing but enough bought his line of bull.

What strikes me is that NYC is a city of 8.5 million, only about 2 million voted, and the left is all excited about turnout. That seems like awfully low turnout to me.

You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet but NY has been in the egg breaking phase for a long time now.

Any New York voter expecting a delicious, free omelet is going to be mightily disappointed.

I recall a famous, albeit apocryphal phrase, from the Vietnam War: “We had to destroy the village in order to save it.”

Let NYC ccrumble. It’s the only way to prove that socialism and communism are failures. Most NYC are myopic to anything going on in the world outside their little borough.

The failure will be the example we need.

For me, it was not Mamdami's win that surprised me, but the sheer lack of ANY decent, qualified candidate at all, in the biggest city in America. Quite incredible that the best Republicans in NY could get to run was Sliwa.

It is going to take some backbone and some real creativity to save NYC. Because now the vacuum is going to be back filled with the same folks that created Dearborn MI and Minneapolis and PDX etc. And there is plenty of $ and politics to fuel it.
Those that think it will collapse are kidding themselves.
Of course on a grand scale it will collaspes. We all know that. But those in charge just need enough time and the right places to survive to convince enough of their minions that the utopia can be achieved.
