NYC city council votes to ban horse carriage rides It's not entirely on Mamdani, although he would be the one to sign off on it. Do not construe this as my defending him.
Death of tourist Sucks to be him, but you cannot have a world without danger. It will probably suck big time for the carriage drivers, as well as the horses themselves.

Banning horse carriages due to safety concerns is such a stupid excuse as NYC lets out criminals and wants Rikers Island closed. How about banning Ebikes since there has been multiple deaths on them. I can easily see idiots, whether maliciously or just ignorant, riding these in such a manner as to "spook" the horses. This is alluded to in the full article.

I found 205 traffic deaths in 2025, compared to one(!) in 150 years related to the carriages! It is a PETA/flaming liberal effort! Decades ago I took a young lady on the carriage… very romantic and fun. Any opinions of the real reason? No quarter .308/.223

If the people that call NYC home let this happen, they deserve ZERO sympathy. They are complicit in destroying their own cultural heritage and deserve exactly what they get. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

There go my buggy whip stocks. I only spent a day in Manhattan dropping my off my daughter at school, but holy cow the E-bikes! I was actually looking forward to seeing bicycle messengers on fixies, but I guess they’ve been gone for 20 years now. The Door Dash e-bikes are everywhere though.

They are probably already working on a plan to limit where Dogs may be walked .

The banning of the Horse and Buggy thing has been around for decades. Thank the ASPCA, PETA, and the rest of the fanatics. It happened here in Chicago a while ago. Mamdani is just the final nail in the coffin. Im not worried about this Horse and Buggy stuff, mamdami will fuck up way, way more important stuff. And probably to the point of where people are going to NEED a horse and buggy to get around. Funny thing is, they’ll still be outlawed!! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. I think we agree that the socialism experiment will implode, resulting in NYC bankruptcy. Depending on how bad it is, which will happen: 1. New York State will bail them out 2. Failing that, the Feds will do so In either case, one would hope that extreme, draconian restrictions on expenditures would be demanded. Or am I indulging in psychedelic substances?! https://townhall.com/news/amy-...734408&lctg=26773771 The New York City Council Quietly Passed Measure to Aid Government-Seizure of Private Property The New York City Council has passed a measure that's clearly laying the groundwork for the eventual government seizure of private property. The "Community Opportunity for Purchase Act" (COPA) requires some property owners to delay putting their properties on the open market for 90 days so "community land trusts" and nonprofits have an exclusive shot at buying them first. It's absolutely an attack on private real estate ownership. As of right now, this legislation impacts about 2,100 New York City buildings, down from 10,000 under the previous version of the bill. Former Mayor Eric Adams vetoed similar legislation before leaving office. The board president of the Small Property Owners of New York Ann Korchak told The New York Post that this is "just a foot in the door." "COPA, in any form, is a destructive housing policy for renters, owners, and affordable housing," she said. "COPA will devalue buildings, forcing small often immigrant and multigenerational owners to sell their buildings for pennies on the dollar." That's the entire point. The socialists who run New York City want to devalue property. They want government to own it all. They're inching their way toward that goal. cont...

Next thing you know, Mamdani will be quartering soldiers in people's homes. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Whatever else may be said about these efforts by Mamdani and ilk, they make clear what Communism is. When the vultures finally come home to roost—as they inevitably do—the faithful of that secular religion, not to mention the historically illiterate and apathetic clueless, won’t be able to plead that they weren’t warned. (Not that will shake anyone’s faith because they will always be able to find apologists to provide excuses why it wasn’t the fault of the philosophy and practice that made it a disaster. The only hope, however faint, is that if the heat is turned up too quickly, the sleeping frog may wake up in time to leap before he becomes frog broth.) “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

https://townhall.com/news/amy-...734408&lctg=26773771 NYC Comptroller Sounds Alarm After 30,000 Private-Sector Jobs Left the City in Just Two Months New York City's socialist experiment is going great. So great, in fact, that the city's comptroller, Mark Levine, is sounding the alarm after 30,000 private-sector jobs left the city in just two months. Levine calls the trend "concerning." "Private-sector employment dropped by 23,000 in September after losing 7,400 jobs in August — with gigs in finance and tourism leading the private sector in declines, according to a new report by City Comptroller Mark Levine’s office. “Despite a relatively strong tourism season, Leisure & Hospitality employment fell 7,700 in September alone and is down 17,000 jobs over the past year,” Levine wrote, calling the figures “concerning” across the board. The finance sector, one of the state’s biggest tax revenue drivers, shrank by nearly 6,000 positions in September. Business owners said the grim figures are more than just numbers, detailing how rising costs have forced them to close up shop, leaving New Yorkers without jobs. “The costs just were so high,” said Sam Musovic, owner of Upper East Side cocktail bar Sojourn Social, who closed another business on West 72nd Street late last year, laying off about 100 workers." cont...
