I recently read an article about CO, the socialist wing trying to oust the old guard of democraps. Two of the main items advertised are ‘Medicare for all’ and a ‘living wage’. Promises made, not likely to implement where anyone’s life will change.

I like watching the establishment democrats railing against the socialist wing.

I will say, I’m waiting for that Government grocery store to open up. I’ll be looking for that dozen of eggs for 50 cents, a gallon of milk for $1, and a six pack of IPA beer for $3.

The other day Rep. Tilab was on the twenty five dollars an hour minimum wage rant. She’s such an idiot that she doesn’t realize or care that if that was enacted prices would suddenly rise in response to that.

John Fetterman Warns Mamdani About Defying SCOTUS Immigration Order

The Supreme Court handed the Trump administration a pair of clean immigration wins last week, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani responded by announcing he would ignore them. Now Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is sounding the alarm.

The Court ruled 6-3 Thursday in Mullin v. Doe to allow the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for hundreds of thousands of Haitian and Syrian migrants. This ruling set off predictable outrage from the progressive wing of the party. Mamdani was first out of the gate. In a video statement, he declared the decision "cruel" and invoked the specter of the Haitian Revolution to frame deportation enforcement as a betrayal of universal freedom.

"To have people who frankly taught the world about freedom have their own freedom put into jeopardy by the actions of a Supreme Court and federal administration - it is not only cruel, it's not something we will ever accept," Mamdani said. "The Supreme Court just sparked one of the largest attacks on immigrants in modern American history. In one fell swoop, thousands of Haitians and Syrians now risk losing the right to live and work in the country they call home."

He went on to reassure migrants that New York City would not comply with the ruling.

"To the tens of thousands of New Yorkers with TPS who are watching the news, frightened about what comes next, hear me clearly: New York City is your home. You belong here. We will not turn our backs on you," Mamdani said. "You will not face this cruelty alone. This administration will stand alongside immigrant New Yorkers today, tomorrow, and every day that follows."

These are not ambiguous rulings with room for creative local interpretation. The Supreme Court made its ruling, and Mamdani's position is that he can ignore it just because he doesn't like it.

On Fox News's Saturday in America on June 28, Sen. Fetterman sat down with host Kayleigh McEnany and walked through a glaring inconsistency, one his own party seems unwilling to acknowledge. He has spent years pushing back on Democrats who insisted Donald Trump was dragging the country toward a constitutional crisis. His response at the time was straightforward: the Trump administration had not defied a court order. The standard, as Fetterman understood it, was simple. You follow the courts, or you create a crisis.

Now the mayor of New York City is publicly refusing to follow the courts' rulings, and the party that ran years of constitutional-crisis programming has gone quiet.

"I haven't seen the freak-out now that the mayor of New York is now saying I'm going to defy the Supreme Court ruling," Fetterman told McEnany.

He then called out his fellow Democrats, who are either silent or actively defending Mamdani.

"Many of the members in my party are not calling him out... [or they are] defend[ing] him, or just say[ing] we really actually have to follow the court rulings because... that's a constitutional crisis, when you have the leader of the country's largest city [saying] we're not going to follow or honor what the Supreme Court says," Fetterman said.

Fetterman has become a consistent, if lonely, Democratic voice against his party's leftward slide. He has cited progressive figures like Maine Senate candidate Graham Planter, Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, Washington, D.C., mayoral candidate Janeese Lewis George, and a wave of progressive candidates running across New York City as evidence that the party has lost touch with most Americans.

Hmmmm . . . . I wonder if you can be a little more specific. Like, including democracy and socialism, two western civ constructs? Kind of looks like a baby / bathwater situation, followed by burning down the house where the baby lived. Do we get a chance to debate this proposition in the midterm election?

What to do then? Take it to the limit! Be communists. . . with all that entails.

This new gen of Democratic Socialists is arguably worse than the Confederates of 1861. Those Rebs only wanted to secede from USA and go their own way in one corner of the land. They didn’t want to piss on Johann Sebastian Bach, Leonardo DaVinci, Jane Austen, Margaret Fuller, and Ralph Waldo Emerson as they walked out. The Democratic Socialists of our day are fully aligned with their avatars: Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Pol Pot, who operated human meat-grinders at scale to tamp down the opposition. Not a great look to align with the great mass-murderers of history.

It must be agony for Schumer and Jeffries. Eradicate Western Civ. . . ? Piss on white people’s corpses. . . ? Are they really going to get behind that? No-o-o-o-o. But they will try to wriggle around this steaming pile for some weeks to come until it is obvious that the Democratic Party has blown itself up, hoisted itself on that old petard. It may be too late for the party’s old guard. No matter how many rain-dances Elizabeth Warren does, nothing will put out this dumpster fire.

Another question for the months ahead: can that party control its increasingly maniacal street warriors, the Antifas, the Pink Pistols, the Transgender Armed Defense forces, and whatever remains of BLM. There is still a lot of money in circulation for public demonstrations and disruptions from George Soros and other sponsors. And apart from that are the forces of jihad, with their own foreign patrons. Gawd knows how many jihadis came into the country during “Joe Biden’s” orchestrated alien invasion. Not just a few, you can be sure.

By the way, can somebody at the Office of Management and Budget do an audit of the $370-billion that “Joe Biden” handed over to John Podesta in the fall of 2024 to administer “climate-related provisions” of the Inflation Reduction Act, and figure out how much of it bounced right back into Democratic Party-adjacent NGOs and down to party capos like Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Brandon Johnson in Chicago, and Karen Bass in LA?

Socialism is not progressive

The race for the White House has entered a critical phase, making it especially important for voters to understand the underlying ideologies of the candidates. In the Democratic Party, although “socialism” and “progressivism” are often used interchangeably, there is a crucial difference between them. While “progressivism” is a broad conviction about social development that can be linked with almost any political ideology, “socialism” has very specific precepts and goals.

In practice, the “progressive” label has spanned the political spectrum, from fascists seeking to elevate their nations and imperialists claiming the development of colonized societies, to leftist and rightist reformers promoting specific social changes. The word was also hijacked by the Bolsheviks and other communists to claim that Marxist prophecies and Leninist practice would inevitably deliver progress for humanity. It has also been used loosely in American politics, often by liberals seeking to avoid the negative connotations of “liberal” propounded by conservatives.

In stark contrast to the eclectic nature of progressivism, socialism is a specific ideology that is actually regressive. Having failed to deliver on its 20th century promises, some of its proponents adopted the progressive label as a disguise. Leftists and former fellow travelers of the Soviet Union and Cuba, such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), openly define themselves as “democratic socialists” and seek to convince voters that socialism remains a progressive force. The historical record tells a different story.

Socialism emerged at the end of the 19th century as an anti-capitalist movement demanding economic equality guaranteed by state power. Two main socialist streams predominated — the systemic or democratic socialists willing to operate within existing institutions in order to transform them in implementing their ideological goals and a revolutionary or communist stream seeking to abolish existing institutions and hasten the creation of a fully socialist society.

Leaders in both factions believed that they were the progressive vanguard that would bury capitalism and sweep away inequality and injustice. Democratic socialists in Western societies rarely criticized their revolutionary comrades in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, China, Cuba, Vietnam or elsewhere, even as they murdered or imprisoned millions of people in conducting their “class war” against capitalism and the bourgeoisie. Their methods may have differed, but their objectives coincided — the creation of a socialist utopia controlled by enlightened leaders. Hence, the mass repressions in Cuba and China can be glossed over as a casualty of “progress,” which included literacy campaigns to inculcate communist propaganda among the masses.

Revolutionary communism failed miserably to deliver the promised progress, while its experiments resulted in millions of victims and numerous genocides. Many of the systemic socialists in the West turned to various forms of social democracy and welfarism after finally realizing that state economic planning disincentivized entrepreneurship, innovation and modernization. Capitalism proved to be essential for economic growth, and the only question was how it should be regulated to protect workers and to prevent abuses such as monopolization and price gouging.

Very few leftist parties in contemporary Europe define themselves as socialist, as the movement has been largely discredited and lost much of its earlier working class support. The Scandinavian states such as Denmark and Norway that some American “democratic socialists” hail as an example for the U.S. may have a strong and equitable welfare system, but they are also pro-capitalist, business-friendly, and economically competitive. They also avidly avoid the socialist label because of its negative connotations.

Socialism has always been a minority belief in the United States, as the country’s ethos is founded on individualism and entrepreneurship not on collectivism and state imposition. Immigrants who flocked to America sought to escape state oppression and simply wanted the opportunity to work, earn and compete, including millions from communist states. The rulers of Europe’s “socialist democracies” or “people’s democracies” declared them to be the first stage of progress toward full communism until the whole system collapsed in economic misery 30 years ago.

The current revival of socialist ideology in America is based on a mixture of idealism, cynicism and ignorance. Cynical socialist true believers who have never actually lived in socialist societies exploit the idealism of the younger generation and their evident ignorance about the tragic results of social engineering perpetrated by socialist parties. They are capitalizing on wealth inequalities to promote “class struggle” in pursuit of state socialist redistribution. And they are promising idyllic economic models that simply cannot be sustained.

Historically, socialist utopias rapidly devolve into impoverished social dystopias, as Venezuela has demonstrated in recent years. And the usual refrain from politically ambitious “democratic socialists” that “this time we will get it right” cannot be trusted. In reality, a state socialist agenda, even if dressed in enticing democratic or progressivist garb, guarantees economic decline, social conflict and increasing state repression.

Seattle- Different City same Socialism- The office vacancy rate is 36.5% thanks to Seattle / Washington States Tax Policies. The highest of any major U.S. city.

They defend that position in the local news.

The guys she was interviewing had it right. He was not defending what seattle is doing to destroy the city. But providing the solutions we all know. Promote business' make it a pro business environment not the opposite.

An unknown becomes the first black president. mamdani, virtually unknown, becomes mayor of not just any city in the US but New York City, one of the biggest economic leading cities in the world. Funny how that happens.

Now that the vote lasts a month, has no authentication, and is completely electronic, who could question that?

New York City Council Members Approve Their Own $27,000 Pay Raise

Members of the City Council now earn as much as U.S. congressmen.

NEW YORK CITY—With just a handful of members objecting, New York City Council voted to raise its members’ own pay by 18.2 percent on July 16.

The measure, introduced by deputy speaker Nantasha Williams, passed with a veto-proof majority of 42–6. Council member Phil Wong, of Queens, spoke out against the pay raise.

“I spent many months advocating savings in the city budget, identifying savings, so I cannot [conscientiously] vote for a bill increasing the salary for myself,” Wong said.

In March, Mayor Zohran Mamdani released his savings plan, in which city agencies and departments would each make sacrifices in order for the city to close its budget gap.

The new raise pushes city council members’ pay from $148,500 to $175,500; the mayor from $258,750 to $305,800; the public advocate from $184,800 to $218,400, and the city council speaker from $164,500 to $194,400.

The new pay raise for city council and other citywide elected officials will be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026. The total cost for the city would be $1,732,600 annually—however, Mamdani and Speaker Julie Menin have both said they would not accept the raise.

Menin was the sole member who abstained during the vote.

A report of a three-member panel commissioned by the city council earlier this year, Quadrennial Advisory Commission, recommended the 18.2 percent increase, based on cost of living increases in New York City from 2021 to 2025.

The commission recommended a 2 percent annual pay raise be automatic going forward and that a review be conducted every four years during the third year of a mayor’s term. The bill initially included the 2 percent automatic increase, but it was dropped from the final version.

Williams, who helped set up the panel, framed the pay increase as cost-of-living adjustment in written testimony to the commission, saying “a cost-of-living adjustment simply ensures that compensation retains its real value over time, consistent with how inflation and economic conditions have evolved.”

The only testimony in opposition to the increase came from Wong, who wrote that, “residents are facing rising rents, grocery bills, utility costs, childcare expenses, and property taxes while increasingly questioning whether government is living within its means.”

“In my district there are so, so many constituents that live paycheck to paycheck,” Wong said July 16 at the vote.

The pay raise brings the city council members’ pay on par with members of Congress, who make $174,000.

City council pay was last raised in 2016, when it went from $112,500 to $148,500.
