Ask your doctor to change the Lisonipril. Mine moved me to Losartan.

For the longest time, I developed coughing fits that can be solved with Ricola. Usually happens after eating but also at other times like at night in bed.

Went to an ENT doctor who diagnosed me with mild chronic reflux. Gave me some temporary meds and a list of things to avoid to eat. I didn't mind as most were vegetables. But the coughing would still come and go.

I came across a post here that associated Lisinopril with chronic dry coughing. I think the whole class of drugs that end with "nopril" is suspect. Told my regular doctor about my coughing which I did complain to her about but this time, I said I read that coughing is associated with lisonipril. So she switched it to Losartan.

I've been on it a week and no coughing. Boy, that's a relief.

Most do well with Lisinopril.Im like you did not.I tried 2x and both times I got the cough.Its a good idea to look at the side effects of drugs when prescribed.Glad you got switched.

Started out with Valsartan about 3 years ago, and it worked great. Then the recall came.
Doc switched me to Losartan. It didn't work for me. BP was back up to mid 130's/mid 80's, plus got a strange allergic effect, in that the tips of my fingers started shedding skin.
Doc then switched me to Lisinopril. BP is back to about 120/70, skin leprosy went away, but occasionally I do get a slight dry cough. It's not bad enough, in my eyes, to try to get something different.

Been on Lisinopril 20 years. Had the cough, it went away. Never had much GERD.

I too have a bit of a dry cough but not super problematic. BP is really good (also going to gym 5x per week) so I hesitate to change.

Has your gastroenterologist performed an EGD?

I felt like death warmed over when I was on Lisinopril. Dry cough and flu like symptoms. Losartan and/or Bystolic are much cleaner meds for me.

My sister also reported that Lisinopril made her sick.

The stuff is like poison for us.

Had the bad lisinopril cough. Got switched to valsartan. Recalled. Happily taking losartan.

Lisinopril is hit or miss and you don’t know unless you try it.

I was on Lisinopril and developed GERDs. At times I could hardly eat. That resulted in me losing weight. The weight loss brought my BP down to normal and my new doctor canceled my Rx and I got over the bulk of my reflux disorder.
I'm no longer on meds for either.

I developed a minor dry cough about month after starting Lisinopril. It was most noticeable when I would first lay down at night. I started keeping a water bottle and cough drops next to the bed.

It lasted for a few months, then went away, and hasn't reoccurred in the past year and a half. My Lisinopril dose hasn't changed, so I must have just acclimated.

Been on Lisinopril for 5 yrs now I have had no problems. When my Dr started me on it she said to let her know if I start developing a cough. That it is a side effect of the Lisinopril.

Same for me. I had a cough for a long time and when I came off the Lisinopril it went away.

All drugs have side effects. I wish I didn't have to take any. But Lisinopril is the most important one that I take, and I have no problems with it for seven years.

Lisinopril made me cough. Losartan made it far easier for me to start coughing when cold dry weather hit.

My doctor put me on lisonipril and It was horrible


I had uncontrolled shivering, fever, loss of equilibrium, other flu like symptoms like severe body aches....basically if you read the extreme side effects, I had them all

Stopped taking it and 36 hours later was back to normal


Went back to ramipril...meet with doc again next month

Lisinopril - that shit gave some degree of cough but more alarmingly chest pains. I was taking it for high blood pressure. The Doc moved me to chlorthalidone. I had no side effects with chlorthaladone.

After some wight loss my BP lowered to normal levels and I came off the chlorthalidone.

Hmmm. I had no idea. I have been on Lisinopril for years. I have been coughing routinely for several years now. occasionally, I cough until I throw up. I am going to speak with my doctor. Thanks for the post!

When I started Lisinopril my PCP did mention side effects but not the chronic coughing I had. I thought I was going to break a rib. Switched to Losartin after 3 weeks and coughing stopped right away.

So what you're saying is Lisinopril worked well for you?
