I received an email from Sonos this morning informing me that a speaker I was looking at was on sale for $149, marked down from $249. I looked at it last night and their website showed it on sale for $199.
When I clicked the link in the email to shop it took me to the webpage and it showed a price of $199. Ok, no problem, they probably made a mistake on the email. I reached out this afternoon via chat for clarification and they told me they'd be in touch. Within an hour I had an email from them asking for a screenshot, I actually had one that I tried to send during my earlier chat but it couldn't be attached.
This part tripped me up...when I open the email now, it's different and doesn't show a price. This is the same email that I opened this morning and was still in my inbox.
Apparently they were able to change it after it was opened. I guess I'm not that bright because I didn't know this could be done and I don't really like that a sender can get back into an email like this.
Is there a way I can prevent this kind of thing in the future or is it just life today?

It's not that the sender changed the email. The original email included embedded http(s) hyperlinks to external content. They changed the external content so the email now looks different.
I do have a screenshot showing the price and the original email did change. This morning the pic in the email showed the original price crossed out and the lower price showing. When I open the email now the price is gone completely. No link clicking involved.

creslin, I think maybe I get it. The pic in the email actually lives on their server. They changed it on their end so I see a different pic now. Is that correct?
