I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

| My suggestion is to buy space on a shared host and a personalized domain name. That way you can make any email address or, if you’re like me, a hundred email addresses. I control my email filters and have an email for every vendor so that when I start getting spam, i can shut that one down. For my host, I use InMotion HostingFor domains: https://epik.comAs a side benefit, you get web/image hosting and you’d most likely be paying nearly the same for simple email hosting anyway. I don’t see a downside. |

| We cut comcast a year ago and are still using our comcast email address. They said as long as you keep using it we could keep it. |

^^^ Funny enough … I know the founders. Been around a long time now … wow. Fwiw, I use outlook, apple and proton.

Ugly Bag of Mostly Water

| I have been using mail.com for over 25 years. Never a problem. You can sign up for multiples if you wish, and have email forwarded to just one if desired. They offer several domains, but all use the same interface. They offer apps for your devices, as well as browser access.

+1 With “catchall” turned on, you can give the address <whatever>@<your domain> and it still comes to you. |

If you’re on the Apple system this is a good option. I use this as well as Yahoo through ATT as well as Gmail

Age Quod Agis

| Get your own domain. It's like $20/year, and I pay Google to host my domain, with access to G-Suite and a ton of cloud storage. There are any number of other hosts you can use with online interface. If security is an issue for you, consider Hushmail.com out of Canada. It's a tad more expensive, but it's encrypted.I also believe that it's not subject to letters from US DOJ, but rather must be opened by order from a Canadian court. I understand you aren't looking for a @gmail.com account, but this isn't that.

Optimistic Cynic

| I use protonmail, pay the low yearly fee and have a couple of "custom domains" (really just entries in their MTA's (Mail Transfer Agent) database that says "accept mail for this entity"), you still have to register a domain name with a registrar and create MX records that point to ProtonMail's servers.
I front their servers with an AWS instance running Postfix so as to be able to have as many aliases as I want. Note that AWS blocks outgoing SMTP from hosted VMs by default, so you have to do something to either get them to unblock this from your VM, or figure out a way to bypass it. I do the latter by running a SSH tunnel to a host off their network. |

Partial dichotomy
| I've used yahoo for years. I've heard complaints about it, but it works okay for me.
