Not necessarily. There's a lot of stuff to read here and no one reads it all.

Reported posts are for the most part very useful to me. I get an email for each post reported and I read every one of them and I act upon substantial portion of them, and all of them are welcome.

Arc, it seems that you've spooked the members, as no one is reporting posts at this time. I agree that one members was exhibiting a bit too much enthusiasm, but by leaving members guessing just who you're talking about, you've discouraged members from helping us out. I realize that wasn't your intention, but that seems to be the result.

The person in question is not a name you guys would recognize. He posts very rarely and he's certainly not in this thread.

Don't hesitate to use the feature, guys. You'd be surprised out how very useful these little tips are.

The "report this post" button is in fact very useful to staff, because threads will stand out when multiple members report a thread.

My point was that "mashing" this button, or overreporting, can wash out threads that actually need attention.

Of course members should report threads.

What level of saturation or inundation are we talking here that requires actually addressing the forum in this way? Can we perhaps see a screenshot with the offender's name blurred out so that the membership here can see what actually ranks as an egregious offense? That's the problem here, if you're going to address it anonymously, you need to at least provide parameters for what constitutes an offense to you, sir. For the benefit of the whole membership here, can we define "mashing" of the report post button?

That was my request for clarification. You started vague. Perhaps for the benefit of the whole forum that you've addressed here, we might get perhaps a bit more specific about what constitutes an abuse of this forum feature so we don't collectively run afoul of you. A teacher might use this opportunity to teach, not merely say "I am teacher."

Members should of course make use of the "report this post" button. However, excessive reporting can be a detriment, please try to find a balance. It's simple as that.

I would think it's obvious. If a mod comes on here to mention it and you've been pimping the report button on every corner, it's too much. If you haven't, don't worry about it.
At worst, they'll let you know.
Arc made a valid concern I've(we've) not been aware of and Para clarified it.
Seems clear enough we can move on w/o parameters and measures and such. It's just an FYI.

ETA:It would seem I'm responding a bit late on an unrefreshed tab, but my thoughts are the same.

I had a PE teacher in high school who might have been the basis for this character.
