A local woman we know is riding in the 620 mile, 7-10 day horseback race on wild ponies across Mongolia. They ride cross country on these wild ponies, carry only 11 pounds of gear and rely on nomads for food, water and shelter If you or your family are into horses you've probably read or heard of Leslie Wylie Bateman - she helped launch Horse Nation and contributes to Eventing Nation. She came up in the Knoxville equestrian scene and we met and knew her when she was competing in Eventing and was blogging before starting Horse Nation. They track the riders with GPS - here's the track as of this morning - she is the red dot in the lead: http://www.theadventurists.com...derby-2017-dashboard There's a long way to go! http://www.horsenation.com/?s=wylie+vs+mongolia http://www.horsenation.com/201...he-eagle-has-landed/ So, if you didn't already have a favorite in the Derby, pull for Leslie! “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Well, she's obviously cheating. Man, to see pictures of what she is seeing... I bet it's beautiful there... Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

They started posting some pics from the start of the race: http://www.theadventurists.com...y-2017-rolling-news# Here's Leslie, leaving the 2nd checkpoint: She's got about a 6km lead at the mandatory end of day 1. They are bedded down for the night. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams
