Plowing straight ahead come what may![]() |
I seem to be a “keep every box related to firearms…no matter what” kinda guy (shit…going through my “stash” of trash boxes and found that I still retain boxes for cheap rimfire scopes that I no longer own (quickly going into the trash bin of time to be picked up this Friday)…I’ve never been comfortable with putting easily recognizable firearm or firearm accessory boxes…even down to empty ammo boxes out on the curb (awaiting pickup) for the world to see (no reason to invite trouble)…yep my keeping the box for the various pistols and rifles that I’ve traded or sold has been has been a plus (that blue plastic 522 box is sill around)…but that BCA or PSA upper box is a bit much as well as the various optic boxes that are taking up space in my small hacienda…so just asking, anybody else suffer from this “mindset”? ******************************************************** "we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches Making the best of what ever comes our way Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition Plowing straight ahead come what may And theres a cowboy in the jungle" Jimmy Buffet

Shit, I still find Magpul and Hogue boxes from time to time…in my other life I was either a pack rat or a OCD crow ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ******************************************************** "we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches Making the best of what ever comes our way Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition Plowing straight ahead come what may And theres a cowboy in the jungle" Jimmy Buffet

I keep a small stash of boxes for shipping purposes and all the plastic gun cases you get when you buy a gun. Thats it. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Hard case/plastic boxes, yes. I did keep the cardboard box my Tikka came in, but it's been repurposed into a, temporary, bowcase for my daughter's PSE takedown recurve. The Enemy's gate is down.

I keep any box that might have resell value down the road. Typically, that means, gun boxes, gun accessories, knives, camping gear, and some electronics like iPads and the like. I will also keep the packaging for things that come with a bunch of accessories (motherboards will all the extra cables, for example). Things that will ultimately be used until they break or end up in recycling, the boxes get kept for a few weeks to ensure that the product performs as advertised and then the boxes get tossed.

Only boxes I keep now are gun boxes and occasionally scope or dot boxes. I'll retain the box of a new electronic device about 30 days and if there are no issues they go in the recycling. I knew I had a problem when I was looking for something and opened a big box and it contained a whole bunch of smaller boxes.

Yeah, me too. I've got the box for every gunni bought in a box, except my 15-22s. They were purchased when in was too young to know better and tossed them. My father is completely the opposite. Usually he's tossed the box for anything before he's had a chance to get it dirty tge first time. A Perpetual Disappointment...

Same. I keep the cases and boxes in case of the sale of a gun, same with manuals, test targets, etc. I kept some optics boxes, but most I threw away. All other boxes are gone. I keep boxes like I have a mental illness. I was packing my apartment preparing to move and found a box for the MagPul drum mag I bought. I did toss it but only after a bit of thought. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Cardboard boxes for guns end up in the trash. Plastic ones are in the garage. I do have two large boxes though that are the hold-alls for stuff I can't toss, but have no use for. Lord, your ocean is so very large and my divos are so very f****d-up Dirt Sailors Unite!

I bought my dad a collector rifle made in the late 70s. It came complete with box, papers and a decorative sleeve. Turns out the box and sleeve were worth far more than the gun itself. My guess is because most people threw them away back when the gun was in production. This may not help those of you trying to rid yourselves of boxes. ![]() You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

My family get's so many online orders, be it Amazon or others that disposing of the boxes becomes a chore. I keep a few that I feel would serve other purposes and sadly put the others in the recycle bin. Gun boxes, the plastic ones not the shipping or outside cardboard are retained unless the final box is cardboard like with early Sigs. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

Cool stuff I keep boxes for indefinitely. Household stuff like microwaves, TV’s, etc we hold onto until after the warranty expires, then the little missus ships something in them. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown
