Been exclusively an Amsoil synthetic user for engines that require synthetic. Motorcraft of Rotella for those that conventional will do just fine. Always heard good things about Liqui Moly from my buddies running the Euros. When I had my Audi internet ordering stuff especially like bulk oil was still rather expensive so I just bought Audi oil by the case from the dealer. I have been an Amsoil preferred customer for quite some time now so Amsoil is the most cost effective but still an outstanding product. Well our good friend Chowser keyed me into a place where you can return your used oil and get a full refund and they happen to carry Liqui Moly and their Molygen is supposed to be really good at quieting engines down because of their friction protection. Our 2015 5.3L Suburban is likely one of the loudest drivetrain ever created. I switched from 0w-20 to 5w-30 and immediately noticed it quiet down. My 2014 5.7L Tundra wasn’t loud but wasn’t quiet either and I switched it to 5w-30 as well and it too is noticeably quiet. Amsoil costs me about $50 per oil change per vehicle and the Liqui Moly runs about $75 so I have never bothered trying. But with the full refund on used oil deal figured I would give it a try. So I have a case of 5L jugs that got here today still have about 1k miles before I need to swap the oil but looking forward to seeing how it does. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. lol, me again. just remember, FCP changed their return thing to store credit this month instead of cash refund. so it's not bad if you're just doing oil. i'm about to order brake pads for my bmw and will see if they last more than 10k miles. My daughter's Subaru Impreza with the base engine was running 0W20 since new. At 28k miles it was getting louder and I did the GDI Intake valve cleaner thing this spring. I didn't notice much improvement. She just did her own oil change at 34k last month using the Molygen 5W30. I just took it on a 90 mile trip this past weekend and I have noticed it is quieter and is getting better mileage. I just used the last of my 0W20 in my BMW. I'll be switching it over to the molygen 5W30 as well. I guess I could stick to 0W20 and add a bottle of their MoS2. I think that's what molygen is, their oil with MoS2. Warranty is about out on both so I said fine to the 5W30. Not minority enough!

I used moly in my 1990 C2500 for a long time for its increased gas mileage. I just add it to the oil. 41

I use the Mos2 in all my cars, about every other oil change. Good stuff. Cam lobes look like new.

I am not sure why 0w-20 is pushed so much by the manufacturers here in the states. Likely the government meddling for some reason. As both these motors manuals state 5w-30 is just fine in all the other countries they are used in EXCPET the US. Both of them run much quieter and smooth on 5w-30 ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I think they push the 0W-20 for fuel economy standards (CAFE) in order to squeeze out every little bit of mileage from the cars. I think Toyota will be pushing 0W-16 soon if not already. Not minority enough!

I use this in my Ducati. Liqui Moly 20060 Motorbike 4T 15W-50 Street Engine Oil I did my research, and this was my best result to run in my baby. ___________________ "He who is without oil, shall throw the first rod" Compressions 9.5:1

I buy a LOT from FCP Euro, and will certainly take them up on their Lifetime Warranty for repair parts as even the OE designated parts for my Audi and my Volvo(s) are pretty damn expensive (especially for the Audi!), but I don't know if I feel right sending back used Motor Oil and Oil Filters. I know it falls within their policy guidelines, but it seems like that'd be taking advantage, and that's not even considering shipping. We've got an Audi B8 S5 w/ 32 Valve V8...How much would it cost to send back NINE Liters of Motor Oil, plus the Oil Filter anyway? Has anyone priced that? It can't be cheap...Does it even pay to do it? I'm currently using Castrol Edge 5W40 Full Synthetic A3/B4 Motor Oil (Euro Formula - VW 502/505 00 Approved), but I 'might' be convinced to switch to Liqui Moly Molygen (at 2X the price!), if the net cost could/would be the same or lower. ![]() ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! My sonic experiences with Mobil 1 are that the fresh charge is quieter and over 6K miles the noise returns. On your Suburban check to see if the AFM is set to V8 only. Much healthier for cam and lifter. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

I have used Mr.Moly by the 10 ounce can when it was about $6/can. Now it is $22/can. They claim 3 percent increase in horsepower on the can. https://www.mrmoly.com/category-s/103.htm The Europeans have been using it for a long time due to their high gas prices. LiquiMoly is the brand which you can find at foreign car auto parts dealers or Walmart. https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/...reas-of-use/car.html 41

Hard to say it is taking advantage when they EXPLICITLY state it is part of the program. Looks like 2 5L jugs will be a hair over $20 to ship back. So $20 for $86 worth of oil and Amsoil runs me $56 I think shipped to the house. So still $36 cheaper than Amsoil.
I change the oil every 5k and the noise is the same across the board throughout that period with 0w-20. 5w-30 is noticeably quieter than the 0w-20. I deleted that Cylinder deactivation AFM garbage two days after buying. Transfer case is the noisiest and Amsoil does not even quiet it down compared to OEM. I have to change it every 10k or it gets ridiculous. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Alright then, I'm gonna switch to the Liqui Moly Molygen on the Audi V8. ![]() I'd need to run this version of the Liqui Moly 5W40 @ $44.39/5L Jug --> https://www.fcpeuro.com/produc...r-liqui-moly-lm20232 So $88.78 for 10 Liters (Qty. 2 Jugs @44.39) for the first oil change, and then (assuming the $20 shipping charge) ~$68 net credit on each subsequent oil purchase. For comparison, I pay $44/oil change for the Castrol 5W40 @ Walmart when it's on sale ($53 when it's not), so it would seem to be a No Brainer! Plus the Liqui Moly has that distinguished green florescent color! ![]() ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! I like FCP Euro but the Castrol Edge Pro C1 5w30 spec'd for my Land Rover 3.0L Turbodiesel is out of stock. This would have been the oil change where I ordered the 2nd round and returned the first...so now I'm stuck buying the oil elsewhere. I'm switching to Ravenol FLJ this time around. The Castrol Edge is so hard to find, the Ravenol comes out a little cheaperand is more reliably in stock at places that offer free shipping.

I don't use the Molygen but I've used Liqui Moly Leichtlauf 5w40 with my last two VW's so far around 200K miles between the two. Works great and I can get it at Napa or Amazon. -------------------- I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

Have you tried the Rowe Hightec Synt RS SAE 5W30 HC-C1? I switched to that in my RR TD6.

eh-TEE-oh-clez![]() |
Oh wow. First I've seen or heard of Rowe or this oil in all my hours of research. The heck.

Member![]() |
Supposedly the Rowe is better. I get it through IDparts.
|
eh-TEE-oh-clez![]() |
And cheaper. Darn it, I just bought 13 qts of Ravenol (enough for 2 changes) from Blauparts to save on shipping. Thanks for sharing, I'll try to remember for the next time.

I'd love to give the Liqui Moly products a chance, but from a quick glance at their site it seems they don't offer the weight that I need (5W-50) for the Mustang. That means I'll be sticking with the Mobil 1 for the time being. "In order to understand recursion, you must first learn the principle of recursion."
