Has anyone used these? I keep seeing the cheap-o versions pop up on Amazon. Giving serious consideration to trying one for a small office/closet space in the basement. I have a central light socket; original plans were to come off this with some LED light strips, but for the size of the space I feel like this would be overkill. In the mean time I've added a re-loading/gun workbench that has it's own LED strip, so this would be more for just general lighting in the room.

Looking at something like this for the space.

Pic of office/closet for reference.

I don't have that bulb, but I've had one of the multi-bulb LED lights in my garage for about three years.
Very bright, which makes working on things easier.
I got it on Amazon and I'm happy with it.

I'm wondering if it might be too bright for your room (which looks small to me from the pic).

Yeah, 3,000 lumens for a room that small seems like major overkill.

Yeah, I’m finding similar units with lower lumen ratings. Something in the 1000 range is more what I’m thinking.

With open ceilings like that > I would rather install multiple direct light fixtures focusing on specific task areas.
Or a LV fixture or even track light with focused lights.

Illumination would be much better, IMO.

Costco has one claiming 8,000 lumens. pack of 2 for $50. Definitely too much for an office, I've seen the store display on.

Agree with this.

One powerful emitter in one spot is going to be harsh and cast shadows everywhere. Multiple, lower-powered emitters will create more room-filling, more pleasing, less tiring lighting.

Personally I would add more keyless fixtures. On super bright point will create a bad shadow. The fixtures, boxes, and wire should be under $30. Put one one all four corners of your office area. Then just use regular 60-75-100w equivalent bulbs depending on how bright you want it.

For that kind of space, for me… LED shop light. Cheap, get from big box or Costco or Amazon, throws plenty of light and is big enough to spread it out. I do 2, to make sure light is even and no shadows.
