Happy this is a PRO-gun forum... wonder what the real smart people think.

egregoreI am allowed here to carry either open or concealed with a permit, but I can see no good reason to open carry, and I never see anyone else doing it. If I did, I'd most certainly use a holster with
at least "Level One" retention. I don't use retention (other than friction) on concealed holsters.

Great, one of our own that thinks there is only one acceptable way to exercise your second amendment rights.
Open carry is perfectly acceptable as long as your take steps to protect your weapon. I open carry during hunting season all the time, both in the woods and when I'm in town just because I don't want to have to take the holster off my belt every time I go to town or leave the woods. My gun is in a proper retention holster.

slosigI’d personally much prefer to be the grey man, carrying concealed. I hope that all of us are aware of our surroundings, whether carrying openly or concealed. Just because I prefer one method doesn’t require me to judge others who make other choices.

FenderBenderwhy is it some cheap ass holster when I see open carriers? what's the deal?
I'm all for do what you'd like but retention is a pretty good thing if you ask me.

Thanks for the reminder!
I forgot we had one of those on here

I occasionally OC - when I do it's most often in one of
these.

ensigmaticI open carry on the woods. Carry concealed otherwise.

MonkI'm sure there are many anti-open carry folks who are just tickled to hear this. It
finally happened. Now if someone can just be charged with having an aftermarket trigger in their gun during a self-defense shooting, the circle will be complete.

fatmanspencerI dont understand. I guess all you CC do that at the range? The draw fire from concealed right? Because otherwise, when you need your weapon, you wont have it. You fall to your level of training. Since all my training is for OC, I carry OC. However, I also train with retention, and my OC has retention. Basically train how you carry. But try to never carry with no rentetion, even CC, because if you end up on your back, you want your weapon secured.

You must not spend much time around here. Don't expect anyone to respect your opinion, right or wrong, if this is how you declare it.

I laughed out loud at this.
The only other optional check-marks are "wearing a vest" or "Owns 5.11s."

dwright1951I was talking to a friend who was thinking about open carry (has a concealed carry permit) I told them if you open carry and a bad guy is hell bent on creating mayhem they will see the open carrier as the first person to take out. I too prefer concealed carry!

I wonder, how many times has a concealed carrier has his weapon taken from him straight from his holster? Has it happened? I'm sure it must have.

2012BOSS302I see plenty of people out here OC and there are no issues where ever they are - we can OC/CC in our statehouse. Actually I am thankful there are people willing to OC, just to show the world it is legal and ok to have firearms. Why blame the person doing something totally legal, for the actions of a criminal.
But a good reminder to be aware of your surroundings - OC or CC, when shit happens it happens fast and without warning.

I'm sure it has, but I also imagine it's exceedingly rare.
