konata88They have collapsible carbon fiber sticks at Costco for a decent price ($30-ish vs $150 for branded versions at common retail hiking outlets). Just picked up a pair last month. Quick release instead of screw compression.
But not sure how useful it would be to used defensively.

ZecpullI have Drop foot so I sometimes carry a cane. I have an Ash Cane from Lehman's Hardware near me it is in an Amish community. They now sell one that would be serious in a fight they are made from Horse harness

C Davis Group.
Much less pricier than cane master and they have a similar model as their combat cane if you're so inclined. They also have it available in hickory.

kkinaHere's my stick, in progress. Oil-finished, will probably add a topcoat of gunstock wax. Waiting on a "cane connector" so the two pieces can be screwed together.

I studied Arnis for a few years under Duane Ranieri who studied under Remy Presas. Sifu Presas visited our school multiple times.
I really enjoyed Arnis and since I am a lefty I always excelled on the offhand stuff over the other students.

Rey HRHNot a diss. That connector is similar to the extensions my dad used for painting with his paint roller. But the connectors were metal, the rods were made of wood.
I should have kept them.

I have had one of those for quite awhile and rarely use it. When a stick is required I carry a Hickory cut-to-fit beauty tht is easier to manipulate because of the crook and is stout enough for serious work. The ball on the 'blackthorn' is cool looking but just wasn't my cup of Irish.

SigfestI was just at my BILs fathers 92nd BD party. He'd had some balance issues and was carrying an original Blackthorn stick from Ireland that his grandmother brought to this country. It was beautiful. A work of art. I fondled it a lot.

henryazI have, and have had for some time and used, a walking stick. They are aluminum, jointed, with a removable top for a camera thread, and a removable bottom for a pointed spear. But now, since I actually need something to lean on while I walk, it is a Canemasters cane, hickory. I need the crook to support my steps. It's a good sturdy stick and has improvements such as finger grooves and a pointed horn. And as noted, you can take it anywhere, jury duty, airplane, wherever.
