Week 1: Missouri [Opus 5 pick]

Jmtgsx, thanks for doing this again this year. I've enjoyed it in years past.

Ethically I need to disclose that I'm "playing" this game using Opus 5.

Yes, there's always some jerk who has to use AI and ruin it. Frown but it is my hope that you still allow me to follow along with the hopes that several of you are able to declare "See, I beat the AI."

I plan to put [Opus 5] after each of my picks. Should Opus 5 get to the final week, then please disqualify me and pick the person who did the actual work toward this game.

Also, if you'd rather, I'll back out now --- up to you. I totally understand that AI takes away from those making a real mental effort.

You're welcome CG!

Game day!!!!

A quick note, I'm out of country, leaving today, and will return Sept.9.
I normally post the next week's thread on Tuesdays, but Week 2 won't be posted until late Wednesday.

Week 1 picks good as long as it's posted on this thread before game scheduled kickoff.

Best of luck all and thanks for playing.

For those of us that picked UCF, we narrowly escaped with a win.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

^A score like that is why this yearly thread is so fun. Week 1 is mostly cupcakes. It gets harder and harder every week. I'm glad to see nobody picked Rutgers this week. Rutgers has to be ashamed to lose in week 1 to your warmup cupcake.

I can’t make a solid contribution to this thread, but I want to take this opportunity to say Ppphhhttt!!! to the ACC Network for letting the positively sucktastic Tulane/Duke game drag on instead of airing VT vs. VMI at 7:30 as scheduled. Grr.

It looks like we all survived week 1. I'm pondering my week 2 pick but haven't decided. I see nobody picked Michigan last week. That game was crazy and in my opinion, the clock was at zero and W. Michigan won that game. My opinion of course matters about as much as I say I say a scuba diver's lawnmower.

You're going to be disappointed in the technical process of this pick.
