Seen too many watch threads at SF lately and it got me dreaming of nice if not curious looking watches. Not that i can afford many in this corner of the world...

Just saw a Welder watch (never heard of them till now) that looked like a K28 U-boat model. Was at a second hand jewellry store and asking price was $200+.

Can't find any serious review. They're all adds in diguise.

I don't know anything about them. I did find this as the only thing I could find about them on the watch blogs I follow. It is old.

I'd guess they are more fashion oriented than horologically oriented. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

My position might not fare well with true watch aficionados so take it for what it is, just the opinion of another inhabitant of the planet.

If you see a watch, like it, want it, and can afford it without putting yourself in financial hardship buy that watch and enjoy it. What others think of my watches is of little concern to me, I buy them for me not others. Smile

Lest anyone think different, I agree. If you like it, buy it.

Nothing wrong with liking it for the looks.

(And in this case, I don't really know much about their quality as watches. But they are not expensive, so it isn't like you are overpaying, even if they aren't super-deluxe timepieces.)

True watch aficionados that are secure with themselves will agree with you.

The one I saw and grabbed my attention is round faced. Might be the u-boat one, in has huge numbers at the 12, 4 and 8 positions. The color was a weird looking green (not very enthusiastic about it). Looked like dried copper rust/patina. Will have to go take a second look at it.

Last devaluation took a good chunk of my salary. Making the same amount as a year ago but inflation was over 50%. Now $200 is serious cash, therefore the need to know if i won't be throwing away my money on a piece of junk.

Apologies if I derailed things. I know nothing personally of the brand so I can't advise in that manner.

Given the economy of things, I understand your desire not to buy a clunker. I know I have one I purchased that was junk, but for a few weeks (while it worked) Inwas really happy with it.

Looking at Amazon reviews it seems to be a "middle of the road" type watch when you throw out the "broke on day 1" and "awesome 5 stars" type reviews.

Could someone from outside your country increase your purchasing power and ship you something? Are you quoting USD at $200? There are lot of new options in that price point.
