Great place to be. Check out the subway, very easy to use and to get around

I highly recommend this place for dinner and a Flamenco show, one of the coolest things I have ever seen

It’s a fun city! I’m enjoying it more than I expected I would. So far the locals have been surprisingly friendly.

Was there a few years ago and I didn't get to go inside. Trip was a bit last minute and tickets were unavailable so waked around and admired all the intricacies from the outside. Was taken aback by all the American fast-food eateries in the surrounding streets.

Not The Tail of the Dragon which was my guess based on the thread title alone.

I lived and worked in Barcelona for a year and a half. Gaudi, the architect of this cathedral, was killed in 1926, but left many examples of his unique designs.

While you're in Barcelona, try to visit the Parc Güell, designed by Gaudi.

There ia also an apartment house that he designed. He was convinced that the motor car was the coming thing, and every family would have one, so residents of this apartment house could drive right up to their own apartment door.

Dali and Picasso were also Catalan artists, visit the local museums to see their work.

Back when sailors were viewed as second class citizens, they were not really welcome in the wealthier areas of the city. They had their own cathedral near the port area. I was invited by one of my Spanish co-workers, to a concert in this centuries old cathedral. I eagerly accepted, having visions of Gregorian chants, etc. Turned out that the concert was Lionel Hampton on a European tour.

We were there late February. Taking the guided tour was the best decision we've ever made. It unlocked the meaning behind all the amazing architecture. We also enjoyed Barcelona.

Thank you. We’re doing a two week cruise on Viking this summer. The ship leaves from Barcelona.

So my pre-cruise tour planning paid off.

Stickman -- the 24-hour motorcycle race in Barcelona is in early July. I went in 1977 and 1978.

YES!! I am soooo glad we did a guided tour. It was absolutely worth it.

V-tail, I’d love to see that but I’ll be back in the US in July. I missed the Spanish Grand Prix (motorcycle) by one week. Though seeing how that race got red flagged twice I’m glad I didn’t see that carnage in real life.
