My wife and I were driving through a back alley about a month ago when I saw a wallet on the ground near a truck parked there. I went around to the wing bar/restaurant where the truck was parked behind, and I met with a waitress inside. She told me they didn't have a PA system, so I asked if they had anyone working there by the name of... She said she did, so the a young male dishwasher came from the back. I asked him if he was missing anything, and he thought for a second and then reached for his back pocket...that was missing his wallet. I told him I only checked for his name, and that I didn't even check if there was any money inside. He thanked me, and we left each other with a handshake. I'm not saying I've done this a hundred times, but I did find property or had it turned over to me over the years while I was on patrol. Some wanted to reward me, but I would never ever even think of it. I just want others to do the same if I was to lose property. Retired Texas Lawman | |||
