He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just this year as a solo artist. Was already in for being in Genesis. _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! I was in high school when the Miami Vice guys where cruising around in their '74 Ferrari Daytona, yes I will always remember that episode. The Phil Collins drill at the range has become a thing "The left can't applaud me because their hands are in other people's pockets." - Javier Milei

Saw him 4x with Genesis, starting with the Seconds Out Tour. No “Merci Paris!” but close enough. One of the most memorable tours i’ve ever seen. Goes with me everywhere, always. Saw him twice as soloist, Starting with his second album. Excelent but i didn’t like the musical direction he took (solo or with Genesis). Wish I’d seen him with Brand X. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

^^^^^^^^ I used to have a cassette recording of the first Brand X album in college, at the time I was still into Return to Forever, Jean Luc Ponty, etc. Great stuff, and Collins was an excellent drummer. Here is a live performance at the Old Grey Whistle Test, the first minute is a short interview with Collins. Unverifiable recolections from 40 years ago: Phil went to produce a couple of Eric Clapton albums. His sound signature is very present and noticeable. As it was usual with Eric in those times, these albums were, IMO, quite unremarkable. Been a Clapton fan since his early solo days. Also an early EWF fan. Phil, more or less at the same period, joined/produced Philip Bailey’s most successful album. Read, we’re all familiar with “Easy Lover”. Collins drum signature is unmistakeable on that song. He also grabbed EWF horns “sound” and made it his for the Sussudio album. Not sure if he borrowed the musicians or what but end result, no more EWF. Sort of blame him for that. Either putting EWF out of its misery or feeding off the corpse. Finally, i remember Phil playing drums on two of Robert Plant early solo albums around that time and he did an excellent job sounding EXACTLY like Bonzo. That was impressive and outstanding! Had first hand experience of John Bonham performing live while on the In through the outdoor, Brussels June 1980. Remember i was offered a small fortune for my ticket, enough to buy me a new stereo amp, but i decided against it and saw the show. Good times. 0-0This message has been edited.
